  1. Well, thought I had it figured out, but guess not.
  2. All good, watched the training video again and picked up on how to remove a extension line
  3. Yes, I figured out that one out to get to the center of the openings, but what I am more interested in is when you dimension using auto exterior dimensioning, the first string is for the openings if I am correct, but if you happen to have a interior wall between those 2 openings, it will dimension from lets say, start of dimension, to center of opening, to center of next opening, then to side of interior partition to center of next opening. I want to get rid of the one where the dimension line is broke from the interior wall. Same with the interior dimensioning, if you are within you distance, it will pick up the center of all interior openings, but as soon as you get outside the distance, it will not pick up the interior openings, which gives you some dimension strings with the opening dimensioned and others not Wish I knew how to attach thumbnail or file to better explain myself, but haven't got that far yet
  4. While dimensioning a plan, I have noticed that while using auto exterior dimensioning, the first string of dimensions are the openings, second string is the interior partitions and jogs of the exterior walls and the final string is the total exterior length. What I am trying to get is the first string to only dimension to the centers of all the openings only and not break at the intersecting interior partitions, the continue to the next opening. Is there a way to set this up so the first dimension string dimensions to the openings only and stop at any exterior jogs?
  5. I am hoping you guys have some patients with me here. I have purchased the Chief architect premier and am using versionX7 at the moment, and am finally getting back to trying to figure things out following a busy year using other software. I am at the moment figuring out drawing details rather than copying them from my old system. I have a couple questions that I am hoping someone can help me with 1) is there somewhere where you can offset lines rather than copying placing and the moving them to the proper position 2) Is there somewhere where you can trim or extend a line to a different line, or is everything moved by your mouse 3) Is it possible to draw a line by typing in the x-y coordinates for the purpose of drawing a eave detail and the slope of the roof Thanking you in advance
  6. Where do I suppress the label?
  7. When sending my floor plan to layout, there always seems to be the text that says 1st Floor that goes with it, but it is not there prior to sending it. Is there a toggle somewhere to get rid of this?
  8. I had been playing around with it and deleted the roof planes, and kept the ceiling planes in and redid the roof planes and it seemed to work okay. Thanks
  9. Okay, sort of pulling my hair out by the roots now lol. I had added a backdrop to try things out, but now I have no idea on how to get rid of it, tried searching to no avail. Can anyone help me on this?
  10. Hoping this works rtm1-Floor Plan Image.pdf
  11. Seems the attachment did not work, will try again
  12. I have attached a floor plan layout. I have the interior roof planes working okay, it is just the exterior roof plans I can't figure out.
  13. I am trying to run a cathedral roof the opposite direction of the main roof and I can not seem to find and tutorials on this. I have a jog on the front of the house, so I am able to get that okay, but am not sure as to how I split the walls in the right spots to add some planes there, or if that is even the right way to do it. I use the split wall tool, and split the rear wall, but it splits at the center of the interior wall and when I try to adjust the lengths or move the split, it disappears.
  14. Thanks, that is great to know
  15. Can you direct me to where I can read up on how to create a block of the detail?
  16. I have recently purchaced Chief Architect Primier as most people are wanting 3D images of their home. I have been using Builders cad for the last 19 years and have a lot of framing details drawn up in that program. If I convert my builders cad drawing to DWG, and import it into Chief, is there a way I can save these details into the Chief library so I do not have to redraw all details? Forgive me for starting a lot of discussions, but I do go through the videos in the help, and also YouTube videos as well and just can't find what I am looking for
  17. Did a little more investigating, and the way I understand it now, is that Chief will not automatically do the cross sections as I thought they would. I guess you have to use the Cad tools to do the sections the way I was wanting them
  18. If I auto frame once I have the roof trusses drawing in, will it change them back to rafters?
  19. Following the video on cross section / elevation views, I can get the elevations to come up, as well as the section view through the middle of the house, save the view and go into the project view and it is there. The one thing that I can not see is how they got from the cross section view with the cabinets and solid walls and trusses to the line drawings of he trusses, floor system walls without being solid, but more detailed
  20. Have been working my way through learning the software, going good, but sometimes watching the videos are confusing as there are many different versions with different icon placements on each version, but going good. One thing I am having difficult in finding are the teleposts/pads for the foundation. Searched many videos, tutorials and can not find such a thing. Anyone out there that can steer me in the right direction?
  21. yes, I did rotate it after I imported it. I will try your suggestion on the next trial home. Thank you
  22. Hello, I am new to Chief Architect Primier, and have been doing a little bit of playing around, but much to learn. I have been watching videos on how to import drawings and trace them. I have started with the PDF file import and it seems to really slow down the performance of anything, almost to a crawl. I turn off the layer with the transferred PDF drawing and it speeds right back up again. I have the capability to import my drawings from the previous software I was using, and was just wondering which file is the best to use
