  1. Jason That was basically my question. When I right click on the main folder it gives me the option to create a new plan, create a new folder or to make a copy. Let's say I want to create a separate folder for the kitchen, how would I create that while maintaining only the shell of the kitchen to work from?
  2. I've been using and learning X17 for about 4 weeks now. I did all the prerequisites videos to the introductory course, the intro course, all of the getting started videos and at least 20 hours of other videos. Some videos I've watched twice, i even went back and did steps as i paused the video, my struggles are not from lack of trying to learn and figure this out. I'm still having some issues or it may be that I'm trying to do something that was mentioned but not specifically showed in the video. I'm learning on my own home with an addition and kitchen remodel while looking forward to the future being able to give my customers a modern approach and being able to show them what's in my head. Here's some of my struggles - 1st isn't necessarily a user issue but a design issue. I'm looking for suggestions on better ways to tie in the addition roof planes to the existing roof planes - 2nd in the remodeling seminar, Scott shows how to color the different material for the addition and then during the Q and A he tells someone they can simply turn on and off the as built framing layers from the addition framing layers. I can't figure this out. I have colored my materials different, that seems to be correct. I created a new layer called Walls, New Remodel, Framing, New Remodel, ect and I've placed the applicable walls in those layers. In my 2D model i can turn on and off my Walls, New Remodel from my Walls Normal BUT i am not able to control my framing layers that way in my 2d and 3d, when i turn on and off my walls framing it turns off all of the wall framing-I have tried just about every combination by opening the wall spec dialog box and define wall type and going to main layer and changing the display layer and also doing the same for the 3d framing layer set to make sure - I'm obviously missing or selecting something wrong -3rd is a tile issue-i have watched the seminar for the material builder for x17 and also i tried to input my tile using the screen capture mode and i tried following the steps under the help section and although i managed to get a resemblance of my tile, it was completely laid out wrong. I have a pretty specific rustic wood grained tile and when we bought it we bought 60 percent of one color and 40 percent of the other to randomly mix. I laid out 7 or 8 tile on the floor in this manner and took a picture and did screen capture-that didn't turn out to well as it generated that specific picture and duplicated it-I'll try attaching the picture so you all can see what i mean -4th is another design question for the kitchen-on the main kitchen wall there's no windows or the sliding door yet-I'll place those based on the kitchen design-i plan to place base cabinets along that wall along with a fairly large eat at island-i can either put the sink centered on the wall with a picture window and wall cabinets to the side or i can do a range cooktop with hood and place to windows to the side-which ever option goes on the wall the island will have the other -5th is sort of a file/project management question-under your main project heading you have the different plan views and there's a kitchen and bath-in the project management seminar Scott shows how you can create new folders and he has several additional Kitchen folders-why would i need to do this? How would i do this? I understand that i right click, select new and then name it but then what? Do i select new plan from there? If I selected new plan how would i get my kitchen shell and dimensions to work from? Any and all (constructive) input, suggestions and help is appreciated!!! I'm sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to learn and figure all of this out-computers and software is not my strong suit as I'm fortunate to be able to do a word document and send emails with attachments. And i guess another question would be how to share my file-im using project management-do i make a copy and then export? or do i just export it? also it's size is larger than 14mb-you'd think they'd permit larger files knowing how large the files can be
