Hello All,
Hoping someone can help me come up with a solution. I am getting ready to build a deck at my home and am using chief to help me get to an end goal.
Below is where I am at and I am trying to figure out how to frame the lower deck to get rid of 1 of the 2 post where the 45 degree rim ties into the straight rim.-- I know chief may not be able to do this automatically but I am trying to figure it out for realities sake.
I feel like it is too congested in that area and I don't like how the post is in the center of door way as I expect to put a walkway there at some point.
The hopes are I can run the joist in a different way in order to remove the post in front of the door but I am struggling to figure out if this is doable because I have no experience with these type things.
Also, I really didn't like how the column tie in looks with the 2 double rim joist tying in over the post. It just looks kind of shotty.
A markup would be amazing in this situation!
By trade, I'm a civil engineer- I don't work in structural- but if someone can help me see possible solutions, I may be able to handle the math side of seeing if it will work.
Thank you all for your help!!
