  1. Hi Everyone. I've been using Chief X16 for three months and it's going well. I really like it. This is my first post, so I apologize for any etiquette errors. I'd like to hide the existing detached garage from the elevation views of the house I'm drawing an addition on. I drew the garage in as part of the site plan, and to communicate to the client the relationship between the existing garage and the new addition, but it is not in the scope of the project, and I don't need it in my elevations. To start, I put the walls and roof onto a separate 'garage' layer, but when I hid the layer, I was still left with the floor and some other miscellaneous parts. I changed the walls to 'No Room Definition" to get rid of the floor and room items, and was able to hide everything besides the roof ridge caps and gutters. I cannot figure out how to access the layer controls for the ridge caps and gutters to place them on the 'garage' layer that I am using to hide the other garage components. I am not able to directly pick, or use an intersecting window selection, to select the caps or gutter in 3d Full Overview, or elevation. Adjusting the viewport frame is not a viable solution as there is overlap between the garage and the house. If I cut out the garage I am cutting out part of the addition I want to see. As an aside, I am not able to upload the plan file as it is 30MB. Is there a file size reduction operation I am not aware of? I've attached two screenshots, one with the garage turned on, and one with as much of the garage as I can turned off. The problem is outlined in red. Does anyone have a workaround for this issue? Thanks! Tom
