I've attached a Link to Drop Box to download. One of the other frustrating things that I've encountered with this plan is automatic framing. Every time I turn it on, the floors do not rebuild. The foundation doesn't rebuild, ect. There also seems to be a problem with my garage, when i delete the foundation and rebuild it, it has a disconnected wall in the garage next to the dining room, I have no idea why it keeps doing this. Just seems like the more time i spend in this plan the more problems it generates. I got so frustrated with the automatic build, i turned it off and built my joists from scratch. Any know how I can prevent Chief from creating odd sized framing members? For example: A typical 1-1/2" x 3.5" Stud wall is coming in as 1 -7/16" under my curved roof. Is there a way to force it to not change the thickness? The weird thing is when I open up the object properties it labels the thickness at 1-1/2"

Thanks Mate. I think what i may end up doing is creating an entire ceiling plane in the dining room, dropping it , create the hole and use a soffit surface for the sides of the hole. Chief needs an option to drywall the sides like it does with the tray ceiling function.

So I've got my Dining Room sitting at 10 ft right now. I've got a 2nd floor above. I want to create a built down ceiling in the dining room with a recess of 8". When i go to create my tray ceiling it carries it all the way through the wet bar, pantry, kitchen and morning room. Any tips on how to fix this. Also the thing i am having trouble with is the wet bar. i also want that at 9'5". See photos on what is happening.

Here's another one for you chief. How come i keep getting an error when trying to add in this wine cooler. It keeps telling me my cabinet isn't big enough, which is hog wash because to test this out sized the cabinet beyond an absurd size and i still get this error. What am i doing wrong?

Hey Chief. ¿Por Que? no able to add to Library for Wall Niches? I would think since these fall under the "window" category you should be able to add to library like a normal window. Is there something I am missing? As a side note, i have components attached to the niche i want to replicate over and over.

Alrighty.. So here's the next solution i need. My default door Size is a 2880. I place the door, i then resize it to a 2068. I then convert to a symbol, and show advanced settings. I then select Hinged. from Options. This will make my door 24" however the height is no longer 80" its back to 96". when i go into the object properties the height is 80", but on the floor plan its 96" How would i get around that?

So.., I know this may sound counter productive and not make much sense to the 99%, but i think i might have found a bug in the software (X-15). Here's what happened: When placing a default interior door I set the size to 2880 (Its a Swing door). I then converted the door to a symbol and renamed it (I find it quicker for myself, to pick a premade door from the library browser). I then placed the door on a wall with perfect success. It has all the components that I want and the type that i want. . Here's where things get wonky.... I then change the size of the door to a 2080 and convert it to a symbol once again. The difference now is it turned the new symbol door into a bifold door. Does anyone know why a Hinged door would revert to a bifold door when the size is 24" or smaller? Is this a bug Chief Crew?

Hey All, Quick Introduction and context to what I'm asking to do. Fairly new to CA, been a user of Revit for sometime. I work for AR Franchising. We're a luxury home building franchisor, where our biggest market is in Florida. We use Revit heavily, however purchased a 1 year license for Chief as a trial to see if it's better or worse. One of the features that peeked our interest is its framing orthoscopic views and lumber calculations. As of now we use our own proprietary software for database management, which includes costs and project management. In addition we're using E-Takeoff for our material takeoffs. One of the things that corporate wants to achieve is complete data extraction from a 3D model with out running lines and shapes like you typically would for 2D takeoffs. With some extensive setup time, i think i am able to achieve this goal to some degree. I realize I'll have to write some separate VBA macros in Excel that will fill in some gaps. With all that said. I spent a good 3 to 4 hours today learning about Ruby Console and text Macro's. Here's what i'm looking to do with the Material List feature. I would like multiple materials of different sizes to be figured based off a calculated value. Let me further explain... For those that are familiar with Hardie Products, you're able to get vented and unvented Soffit in either 12"x12ft, 16"x12ft or 24"x8ft Pieces. My goal was to create a macro that figures the overhang for the roof, (I wasn't able to find a function that did this, so i figured i would used something like "owner.projected_overhang.area / owner.eave_fasica_length)' This would take the area of soffit and divide by the fasica length of the roof plan section and figures the soffit size in Inches. So my next step would be to create an IF statement that returns the proper Hardie Soffit size if it falls within a range. I've created a JPG with what im hoping is possible to achieve, maybe in a Master Material List???. I think you get the drift of what i'm looking to accomplish. Is that even possible? Chief Crew?
