Hello! I work at an interior design office and we have finally got the whole office to convert to Chief Architect (X14). The issue we are running into is that we need to save new materials that we can all access. Specifically I'm talking about custom materials we are creating based on the client's selections. For example, our client selected an Ann Sacks tile. We have a lead designer and assistant designer on this project. Both need access to this material because both designers prepare renderings for the client. What's been happening is that the assistant designer will create the custom material and apply it to the walls or floors in the 3D, but then later when the lead designer is reviewing renderings in their own instance of Chief, they can't see the materials that the assistant designer added. I imagine part of the solution is that all designers have to save the custom materials into a shared drive? Is there a way for the designers to set up an auto-refresh for their material library to pull in custom materials saved in the shared drive? Thank you in advance!

Help with stairs (L-shaped with winder)
JamieW_Campbell replied to JamieW_Campbell's topic in General Q & A
Hmm, when I try to do four landings, it doesn't work/ look right. Are you able to show me an image of you creating those first four steps with landings? -
Hello! I use X14 and am trying to create the below (existing/ as-built) stairs in my plan file (the client is keeping them, but we will eventually add new stair floor material, railings, etc.). This is an L-shaped stairway, but you will notice that the first four steps are unique. I basically used the auto L-shaped stair tool, and selected the box for "winder". But you will notice that the second step in the existing is already starting to wind. I don't know how to achieve this in Chief. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks. =) EXISTING MY ATTEMPT IN CHIEF

Hello, I am use X14, and (painstaking) created a shed dormer for my ADU (please see below). Any idea why there is a wall behind the window in my dormer? From inside the loft (where this shed dormer is), you can not see out the window (it just shows a wall inside - please see third picture below). Any ideas what I've done wrong? Thank you in advance!

User Catalogue (can we have more than one?)
JamieW_Campbell replied to JamieW_Campbell's topic in General Q & A
Perfect, thank you!!! -
Hello, I use X14 and was wondering if I may create more than one User Catalogue in my libraries. For example, I may like to have one for all my preferred mechanical equipment and electrical fixtures, maybe another one for all my finish materials, maybe another one for my furniture and plants.....you get the gist. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello! I'm on X14 and no longer see an option for AUTO interior dimensions. Only AUTO exterior and elevations. Any suggestions?
-
Okay, thank you! I had hoped for an automatic approach, but it's really not that bad having to do it manually.

Hello! The first picture below is from a Chief Architect blog. You will notice on the right side of the elevation that there is an X for the upper and lower cabinets that are perpendicular to the elevation (they are also slightly grayed out). How do I get X14 to do this automatically? The second picture below is my own kitchen elevation. I don't know how to get the X and gray look automatically. Do I actually have to draw the X manually with polylines and then add a gray shaded box? Thanks in advance for your feedback! =)

Hello! I'm on X14 and I'm not sure why my garage appears to be floating. I assume I need to make an adjustment to the foundation? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Eric, thank you. Unfortunately, when I open my Electrical Service Specification box for any light fixture, I do NOT have the "Options" tab (nor the "3D, 2D Block, Advanced String" tabs). Maybe X14 does not have these settings (tabs) available? -

Oh, bummer! Thanks for letting me know I need to complete a custom rebuild. I've never done this before, so wish me luck! -
Hello! I added pendants to a vaulted ceiling and they are hanging at a weird angle (NOT straight down). Is there a setting where I can adjust the light fixture to still hang straight down from a vaulted ceiling? I'm on X14. Please see picture below of light fixtures. Thank you in advance!!
