In my wall Foundation Offset is set to 0 in both examples. And Foundation to Exterior of Layer are set to exterior face of brick. I don't understand why this wouldn't automatically align the brick faces. Similarly why with the stock brick or siding and foundation settings why this wouldn't align the face of main layers stud and cmu? Am I missing another setting on a different dialog box? Maybe in the build foundation or general default? I know that the face of bricks and the stud to cmu used to work before I moved to X16? If I do the workaround in the photos above, I have to setup a different foundation type that moves the brick and air gap back to the exterior layer for the sections of the plan that have siding walls w/ brick ledge with rowlock. Thanks again for your help.

See attached zips and the images of what I have to do to make the foundation align. I remember in the past setting wall "settings>foundation to exterior of layer" to match between the veneer brick and foundation brick used to work. I thought there was a setting that said align to exterior face somewhere as well but I couldn't find it in x16. Moving foundation brick to the main layer is annoying because I have sections of the plan that would be sided and i actually do want a brick ledge on those sections. It has been a few years since I did a brick home so i clearly am missing something. I hope. Thank you for your help. foundation walls wont align 1.zip foundation walls align by moving to main layer.zip

On a brick veneer house with brick foundation exterior layer, I used to be able to go into wall settings and align the face of brick veneer to the face of brick foundation by Wall Type Definition> Wall Settings> Foundation to exterior of layer: and set all wall types to exterior layer 1 Brick. In X16 this is no longer working. I have to move the foundation wall type 8" cmu with 4" brick settings layer 1 brick and layer 2 air gap back into main layer for the auto build or align to work properly. Does anyone have any feedback on what happened after X15 or why the align to exterior face brick no longer works. The only Chief Tutorials I can find date back to before 2021 and the user interface does not match. I've found a work around but i don't remember it being this hard with x12-x15

I recently upgraded to x15. It seemed like in x10-x14 I could align windows between floor levels using the reference display and the center object command. Is this still an option in x15 and I need to enable a setting? Or am I misremembering my workflow on previous editions. Thank you.

Thank Y'all both for the help. Kbird1, how do I reach the Rendering Techniques Default dialog box? I know how to reach the Rendering Techniques Option box, however, even Chief's documentation only mentions the Rendering Techniques Default dialog without describing how to get to it. There are two articles on getting to the Rendering Techniques Options dialog. I used the windows and nvidia control panel settings to default Chief to the rtx card. I then used the Chief preferences to default to rtx. For anyone coming to this later, I found that turning off the Use Ray Trace toggle in the Rendering Techniques Options dialog box for that camera duplicates the flatter PBR view that i was getting with my old computer. For x14 files this seems to be the only option. I will need to develop a camera and lighting strategy for the new files on X15 projects going forward. At a minimum, I will need to reduce the background light settings or exposure.

We use Chief Architect x14. I am upgrading computers from a lenovo thinkcentre, windows 10 64 bit, intel core i5-4590@3.30 ghz with 12.0 gb of ram and a 3 year old pny nvidia quadro p1000 to a newly built computer with a gigabyte mother board, windows 11 64 bit, intel core i9 3.2 ghz, 32 gb of ram, and a nvidia geforce rtx 4070. We were doing this in preparation for upgrading to x15. Unfortunately, this new computer is causing problems with grainy PBR cameras in layouts. PBRs look better on the new computer until I export to layout. I am sure this is some setting in x14 that didn't export properly from the old to the new computer. Any ideas? layout opened on old computer printed to pdf using Chief Architect Save As PDF 600DPI: Same layout opened on new computer printed to pdf with identical settings Chief Architect Save As PDF 600dpi: new computer: what it looks like on screen in layout: what it looks like on screen in camera associated with plan: old computer: what it looks like in both layout and on screen. I had assumed the PBR settings were associated with the files not within the particular X14 install. I never noticed a difference with the Edge Smoothing When Idle setting on the old computer. I tried toggling this setting on the new computer. It did not seem to help this problem either. Any help or pointers would be appreciated. Thank you.

I used billboards as backgrounds in some projects on X12. With X14 I can't figure out how to use them. If I search on Chief Architect's site and under Support or Knowledge Base, it does not provide results for the billboard tool. BUILD>IMAGE>CREATE BILLBOARD IMAGE... I want to apply images from the Chief Architect Core Catalogs> Materials>Artwork>Photos>Scenery catalog to Billboards. I know there were instructions for using Billboards in previous versions of Chief. Does anyone have a link or tutorial? The only work around I've found is to apply the scenery material to 3d solids. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.
