  1. So, as I understand you Scott, This issue with the brick ledge will happen any time the user may wish to use and adjust pony wall heights. Should not the brick ledge be based on the wall directly above it, regardless of height? There are times where even the starting height can be different from one wall to the next where the foundation is stepped in order to follow a sloped site. I would think it might be well to allow the user to set the brick ledge off and on independently of walls above along with setting depth and width. There are times where a ledge might be desired for stone or other facade and the user could adjust the facade above to extend as required to "rest" on the ledge. Just a thought. Maxie
  2. JasmineGalle, Seeing as you are just over 33 miles from Coure D Alene I would sugest you contact Chief Inc, for information on classes and scheduling. Maxie
  3. is your drive locked? Apple allows to lock for security by preventing drive access to unknown applications. Happened to me. Maxie
  4. Looks even more so as I described. I would set my window and experiment with trim and details below window. Maxie
  5. If you zoom in, the window seems to be single hung with wide trim around three sides over a wood jamb and a wainscot type panel below the wood sill. Maxie
  6. I ran into that in X16 and Home Pro 2023 / 2024. Wall types did not matter other than they all used a brick facade. I ended up using CAD to fix for plan views. Interestingly enough, 3D views were fine. What is strange is every time I tried to rebuild walls using same settings, the errant lines ended up in differing places. Wrote it off as a bug and used best version and used CAD as indicated. Maxie
  7. Usually in this situation there are stem walls surroung the sloped area which may or may not be stepped. I have used other items in chief such as a roof plane, etc, with materials adjusted of course to model the slope. I would set the actual slab to the lowest elevtion and place the sloped item directly over that slab.It really depends on what exactly you are wanting to show. Most times it isn't necessary to show, You can simply mark it with callouts on your foundation and floor plan. Maxie
  8. For many years we have used a 30' turning radius minimum for side entry garages. Maxie
  9. In Texas the plans in fact do show the crickets as they should.
  10. I agree with Tommy. I witness so many designers / Drafters not focusing like they should in order to get the job done fast...

  12. Just so I understand, what is the difference between sending them a copy of the trial version of Chief vs the Chief Viewer?
  13. I apologize, I have not logged in here in a while. Thanks for your offer but I own 2021, 2022, and 2023. I did not upgrade to 2024 as I had a couple of jobs requiring Chief X16 which I did as mentioned above and turned it on / off as I needed it. Its actually a smart way to go for anyone doing part time work. Currently I'm caught up and have grown tired of sitting in front of a computer for a while Maxie
  14. I am not a big fan of the subscription model used by many software vendors of late. I will say Its nice to have the option to turn it off when not needed for those of us working part time but I have come to use the software in many ways which requires I keep a copy active. Most of the competition use subscription models now so there really isn't another option where the user can actually purchase the software any more. That said, I have watched the progress of the Home Pro Software over the years and have used it on various design / con doc jobs. For $595 initially and a $119 upgrade cost per year, I am just about to the point where it will serve my needs at a very considerable cost difference as compared to $229 per month ($2748.00 yr) I have adapted many routines to make it work just fine for standard con docs. Just a thought....
  15. Pretty much made the investment worthless...
  16. Late here but still valid. I have asked for this (Texas uses mostly brick) since the early days of Chief 6.0. Not even a comment from Chief Architect, but we did get a loan calculator..... Hmmm
  17. I realize its late to respond, I've been busy and just read this. Having dealt with Colorado codes for many years, The best thing to do for the RES-Check requirement on a basement finish is to set it up just as you would for a new basement. You will find, as I did, it takes every possible measure to overcome even one of the basement requirements. EG: I had a finished basement without insulation under the slab. All my added insulation points such as roof and exterior wall barely got the project by. The code boys there know this and if you try to present the basement alone it usually will not pass since the basement slabs are almost always existing and without insulation. Make sense? Maxie
  18. I tend to make things work without complexity. I like this as I can review all schedules in one place for editing. For example, I like to create a "shadow" effect around my schedule borders. With all schedules in place, I can copy paste this shadow over to each schedule and adjust to size. Also, it's eay to check content updates all in one view. I used the main floor plan as every schedule item is usually located in that view. Simple really and I am not wanting more layer use. Thats me. The real solution is for a setting when creating schedules to specify location and / or layer without having to manually adjust. Again, simplicity is key.
  19. Create a default blank plan to provide third party, As-Buit drafters. This plan would contain all your settings of course. I realize this doesn't solve existing as-builts, but it prevents further issues. I request this any time I do work for another user. As to the converting, it's always a problem no matter how many adjustments are made. I can usually re-create model faster.
  20. I approached this by selecting a drawing such as the main floorplan to generate all the schedules you will need in your plan set. Once generated, move them off to the side, out of the normal view in layout so as to not be seen. You can then select the schedules you desire and copy / paste them into other layout views. Just drag layout box border over enough so as to see schedules, copy / paste to page you desire, and reset border. No need to worry about turning off or on. The schedules will update automatically as they should. I like to use my windows / doors schedules in multiple views. This works well.
  21. I realize this is an older post that Andy from UK brought to front with his reply. Adding input, I had a request for a hidden door within a closet to access a hidden gun room. Obviously a 12" deep shoe rack style door would not open without a bevel. The bevel / muntin would tend to make the hidden part pointless. In my situation I was able to address this by mounting the door on a tracked upright that was also hinged, allowing door to push back and then open on the hinges. Admittedly, my door was a small unit so not much weight to handle although weight was not a factor using a caster for support. if needed. This setup will also take care of arches or angle top units. It would require a wingwall of sorts to mount the track to if a sidewall is not available as was in my design. Just my opinion offered to those of you who tend to be DIY oriented as I am. LOL
