Kind of a general question but is there a generally accepted convention for symbol layer colors in existing vs new electrical and low voltage?

Hi All,

I'm working on a simple reflected ceiling plan.  I've drawn the suspended ceiling using CAD lines, and now I'm trying to add ceiling lights.  When I drop a 2x4 tube light onto the drawing, it's drawing behind the CAD lines.  Ive opened both the object and the CAD line and set the former to drawing group 1 (front) and the latter to drawing group 39 (back) and it's still not displaying correctly.  The CAD symbol for the light has an opaque fill, so it's not like its an issue of transparency.  I'm lost here.  Anyone have any suggestions?

there is no "needed" reason to retain the Older Versions Data Folder  , though it may pay to for example copy everything in each ones Texture Folder to the latest Version's Texture Folder , and not allowing "replace existing" , as some older plans may still try looking for files in previous versions' folder if not already in the folder the plan is in or the current version's Texture Folder.

 

The Data folder also has your Archive Copies ( plan and layout backups ) copy of old User Libraries etc which you may want to backup "just in case" or at least check out rather that just delete whole Data folders willy nilly.

Everyone here appreciates it when new members complete their signature with some basic info including their version of Chief. Makes it easy for others to locate, and results in you getting the best answers.

 

You can add that info, Windows or Mac computer etc to your signature by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click Account Settings, then Signature on the left.

I am using Chief Architect......?

I'm sorry, I guess I don't understand the feedback.

Hi All,

I'm trying to free up some space on my drives and I've noticed that Chief leaves behind a lot of stuff from old versions even after an uninstall.  In particular, the C:\Program Data\Chief Architect Premier Xx folders are several GB in size.  Am I going to get in any trouble if I delete those, and are there any other big artifacts that you all know about that I might be able to get rid of?

I work for a large residential builder and we have recently purchased Chief Architect to incorporate into our business. We are a custom/track home builder with numerous sets of blueprints. On our prints we have numerous plan options that our customers can choose from. Coming from AutoCAD, the person that ran it would have all of our plan options drawn on one layout and then cut and paste to add the options that the customer has selected and then make additional custom changes if needed.

I've watched a few videos on the layers but I'm not really understanding if that is the route to go or there is a better way. 

For example I would like to essentially build multiple master bath layouts (moving walls, add and delete doors, change cabinets etc.) Is this something that others are doing?
