I opened up X8 and it’s not exhibiting the same issues.  So should I uninstall X10 and reinstall?

When I draw a 10’-0” x 10’-0” room and the Living Area shows 1,137SF? What am I doing wrong!? Also on same drawing the dimension thread shows 10’ in one direction and 9’-39” in the other?  It is seriously driving me insane.  I’m a newbie, please let me know how to address these issues. Thank You!
