  1. To all, Still struggling with it but may just need to update to X9. If I don't use boxed eaves the soffit is sloped and I don't see the frieze board. I'll keep trying. Thank you,
  2. solver, I auto built the hip roof and it works fine but when I add the front gable, the frieze boards detach. The front walls are Ballon Through Ceiling Above. See screenshot.
  3. To all, Thank you all for your replies. Unfortunately I can not get any of these to work. Also, it will not let me mull the half round and doors. Attached is the plan file for this issue. Thank you all in advance. Freize Board issue.plan

  5. Griffin, Didn't work, Thanks for the idea.
  6. TO all, Any advise as to why this is happening? See attached. I don't want a boxed eave but can't get the frieze boards to connect. Thank you in advance.
  7. Chops, Thank you. That works. CA X8 is a little finicky with some moldings as well. Sometime I have to move an object and to get it to regain then movie back into place to look correct. Another quick question: If I create a "cabinetry" column in the library, how do I edit it? Now that I have a nice basic column that dimensions correctly, I'd like to copy it and modify the moldings to have crown, etc. Do I need to start over and create another "Cabinet" column or can I copy the existing and exit that one? Thank you to everyone. Still learning.
  8. Alaskan_Son, The room dividers work well but then the deck border stops at the columns. I can make it work though. I'd love to know where you got CA X9. I have X8 and checked for updated but none we're found. Thanks Deck border with room dividers at columns.pdf
  9. Alaskan Son, Very helpful video. Thank you. One simple questions: When I place my "Cabinet" column I can still see the railing. I have the column fill set to background color, 0% transparency. I must be missing a setting. Thank you for your help. Hide railing.pdf
  10. To all, Thank you for the info. I will be experimenting today. Thanks again. Ken
  11. TO all, When I place a 10" column from the library into my plan, I can not dimension to the column framing, it dimensions to the base or capitol trim (+/- 2"). If I decrease the column size to take into account of the added trim then the elevations do not show correctly. Same general question for handrails on a porch. The dimension goes to the railing not the deck framing. Thank everyone in advance. Columns and dimensioning.pdf
  12. TO all, I am relatively new to CA but have used CADD for +15 years. When developing plans I need to be able to dimension my porch columns to the edge of the column, not the edge of the base moulding. Also, when I build a deck the deck beam and rafter beam do not align with the edge of the columns. I end up adding a moulding around each to represent the correct placement. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, K
  13. Thank you both. I will post in the General Section. I am using the latest version for Mac.

  15. I am trying to automatically show the floor breaks and material labels on my plans. ie. Breakline between the Hallway (Carpet) and the Bath room (Tile). See attached file for my manual labeling. Is there a way CA will do this automatically on the plans? Thank you in advance. Ken Miller Floor material break.pdf
  16. Is there anyone out there who is having "Serious Error" problems with their CA? I recently purchased the CA Premier software and it crashes about once a day. I am running it on a brand new MAC Book Pro, 2.3 Ghz i7 chip, 16 G DDR3 ram, retina screen, the whole nine yards. I have send all my reports to the service tech but they have not been able to fix the problem. I like the program and see the possible streamlining of my construction drawings, but can not be productive enough when it crashes daily. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.
