DBCooper, thank you so much for giving me a way out of my predicament. Now I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be able to recover those files.

I have been using version 9 of Chief Architect successfully for many years now. My hard drive gave up the ghost and was uncloneable so I couldn’t continue using that version that resided on my hard drive. I just signed up for the newest version after reviewing several of the tutorials. If I can retrieve any of my V9 plan and layout files will I be able to open them successfully in the newest version?
