  1. Gotcha. Is that the same for the callout rose with 4 arrows? I know the singular elevation callout can link to the camera, but am curious if there's a way in Chief to do the 4-arrow callout rose you were mentioning & have it linked as well. Or is the 4 arrow callout rose a CAD block that you manually edit & then have additional single elevation callouts that are providing that link to your plan file?
  2. Agreed; I think project browser is the best way to go for now. I like the rose idea. Do you paste a CAD block rose and hide the single elevation callouts that chief generates? Or is there a way that they are linked somehow
  3. Not every wall of the home, but a good number of them! If it has cabinets / tile / wood paneling / etc. ; it can add up on multi-space projects with a lot of detail.
  4. I frequently overlay As-Built drawings onto my new floor plans using Reference Display, with the As-Built model in a separate plan file. The workflow works fine during the session: I link the As-Built file, set the correct story for the reference, and everything displays as expected. However, when I save the file, close Chief, and reopen it, the reference link is lost. Chief defaults back to overlaying my own model’s second floor instead of the linked As-Built file, and I have to manually relink the external file every time. Is there a way to make this link in the Floor Plan Reference / Reference Display dialog so it stays linked between sessions? Or is this a known limitation of Reference Display when using external plan files? I use this workflow pretty often, so I’m trying to avoid having to relink the As-Built file each time I reopen the project. Any tips, best practices, or alternative workflows would be appreciated.
  5. @SHCanada2 Just referring to renumbering/naming
  6. Is there a way to easily reorder elevations? We do a lot of whole-home remodels, which means we end up with elevations in nearly every room. I try to organize them correctly from the start, but realistically I don’t always get them in the right order. Sometimes I forget to add an elevation until later, and then I want to reorganize them so the plan set flows better. When you have 20–30+ elevations, it becomes pretty tedious to go into each one and manually rename or renumber them. Is there a way to automatically sort elevations? Ideally, I’m imagining a feature where all elevations could be shown in a list and you could drag and drop them into the desired order, with the elevation names or numbers automatically updating based on that order. Thanks in advance for the help!
  7. I have custom room molding polylines set up for my bathroom and shower. I want both spaces counted together in the total bathroom square footage, but as soon as I disable room definition on the shower walls, the molding polylines break and everything shifts. Is there a better workflow to include the shower in the room area while keeping the moldings intact?
  8. Does anyone know of a setting to have the auto elevation dimensions space out the values to be more legible? If I have a smaller room with a lot of detail; the dimension values get really close and I always have to go back and manually adjust them to be more legible. Is there not a feature that would automatically prevent this from happening? Thank you in advance!
  9. Thank you @Chrisb222! Exactly what I was looking for.
  10. Hello! Does anyone know how to remove the zoomed-in grid from Chief's plan file? I have the reference grid turned off, which works when I'm zoomed out. When I zoom in, there is still a grid that shows up. I'd like there to be no grids in the drawing. Thanks!
  11. That's a good idea @robdyck; I think I'll change the template to default to 'as noted' to avoid any confusion. Thanks!
  12. Thank you, @robdyck. Sounds great! So for the layout box scale method; looks like I could add that label & then drag it into my title block. I am curious if there would be a way to have my title block on my template set up to update when I import a layout box. Since it's object specific, & not a global property, I don't know if that could work. Do you know if that's possible?
  13. Hello, Does anyone know how to do a unitless scale? Like 1:10, 1:20, etc. I only see options for changing the unit. I'm thinking this could be helpful to do quick math for our team members in the field, rather than needing an architect's scale or trying to convert less common scale factors. Bonus; does anyone know how to link this unit in the title block? I'd love to have the title block automatically update relative to what size the linked view from the plan file is brought in at. Right now, I'm having to manually change it & it opens the door for some mistakes. Thanks!
  14. Thank you @DBCooper, that is correct - I will try messing around with the light itself. I forgot about that option. Changing the material emissivity was easier for me than messing around with lights, but I will give it a try.
  15. Does anyone know how to change my emissivity of my lighting lower than 1? I used to be able to in X15, but it seems to be disabled in X16. I'd like to just have a subtle glow, but the lowest option I have is (1 - Candle) and its still more intense than I would like. Thank you!
