I have been looking to see if there ate tutorials on creating a garage overhang in a carriage style. It is going on a wall that is 2 stories high with a gable roof above.

In my area of South East Virginia, builders are going to a raised slab. Usually a footer with 2 or 3 courses of block, then filled with sand, insulation board around the inside edge of block, and a slab on top.
