  1. Oh perfect. Thanks. I did try that already, but I guess I forgot to turn the connection off. Works now
  2. Hello all, I have created custom lines to produce an HVAC ductwork layout. I've used a dash with an arrow as text to indicate direction. However, for some reason when I create the last leg of a run sometimes it reverses the direction of the arrows and they are going the opposite directions in the same line. I've tried turning the connect CAD segments on and off and it does the same thing either way. I've also tried setting the individual line segment to the opposite line. It just reversed both of them. Any ideas? Thanks!
  3. Hello everyone, Is there any way to have both the left and right side height dimensions of a trapezoid window show up in the window schedule. It currently just shows the highest side. I can't seem to find it. Thanks!
  4. That's exactly what it was. Completely forgot about those darn moldings. Thank you!!!!!
  5. Hello everyone, I am creating a sunroom addition to a storey and a half and have followed the instructional video by lowering the roof planes to achieve the elevations required. The sunroom has a vaulted ceiling (no second floor). I have selected the room on both floors and selected either (no floor or no ceiling above this room). Everything is great except that the 3D view is still showing where the floor framing would be. I can't seem to find a way to remove this. See attached. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
  6. Hello experts, Is there any way to edit the 2D view for cross-bridging in floor joists? Currently it shows as straight bridging. But I would like it to show as an "X". Thanks!
  7. It was just the details that I didn't have checked off for the reference display. Works great now. And breaking the walls will be much less work than what I'm doing right now. Thanks for the great tips!!
  8. Hello everyone, a couple of questions regarding newels in railings. 1) I can't seem to show railing newels in the reference display (1st Floor). I need to place deck joists (Foundation) in specific positions in relation to the newels and they don't to show up in my reference display. 2) Is there a way to locate the newels when dimensioning? Again, I need to show the spacing and locations of the newel posts, however, I can't seem to find a way to locate them when creating dimensions. Any tips or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!
  9. I've been trying to figure out how to select the marker on a point to point dimension so I can resize it specifically to the length I need. Any video I've seen shows to select the dimension line and hit the "tab" key in order to move from the dimension line to the next object marker. However, when I do this it just selects the next object in the plan or, if I'm outside of the plan, doesn't select anything. Scratching my head. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!
  10. Thanks so much for the replies. I'll check out Doug_N's posts and see if he can help out
  11. Is there a way to automatically calculate the total window area and total wall area of a house? I am required to calculate this ratio and display on my plans for energy efficiency requirements. So far, all I can find is the area of individual windows in the window schedule tool, which kind of helps but still requires manual calculations. Thanks!
  12. Hello, I am a newbie to this forum. I would describe myself as an "intermediate" level user of Chief. I am designing an addition to my cottage and am at a loss on how to draw and display my roof and dimensions so that I can submit it for a engineered truss design for the addition. The existing building has metal webbed trusses (see pic). The top chord rests on the top plate of the exterior side of the wall with a "shim" holding the remaining bearing (no birdsmouth). And the bottom chord rests on nothing inside the wall. So far I can't even seem to draw a rafter without a birdsmouth, and alternatively CA does not support the existing type of truss. Any ideas would be appreciated. Red is the existing building, blue addition. Thanks.
