Hi Chieftains, I'm looking for help to create a slot in the ceiling of a room to place some eyeball lights. I'm able to achieve the look I want if there is no room above the trey ceiling. I'm trying to figure out how to get the same effect in a room that has a room above it. The perspective on top shows the slot created beautifully! the cross section on the bottom shows what I'm looking for. I've tried making a hole in the ceiling, but it goes through the floor. When I do this I'm not able to place a fixture in the slot. ( I was just going to fake it with polyline solids, but no luck). Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Folks, I have been sending elevations to layout recently using the plot lines with color fill box checked for the past few months quite successfully, and then today I experienced what I thought was double vision, but actually what I realized i that the image doubled itself. one version is the outlines of the drawing and the double and the other is the colour infill slightly skewed to the left. 19 12 17 65 Clinton Presentation layout legal size.pdf Just last week i did one for another project and worked just fine...December 7 2017 36 Deerford East Wall Kitchen Elevation with Exhaust Hood.pdf anyone know what is going on here? for now I've gone back to using live views. I stopped doing that a while ago because my DH (the designer) hates seeing the blurry elevation in the live view. ( I realize that it becomes clear when we print it, but it irritates him to see it when we are arranging the layouts)

Help to make sloped ceiling above stairway

Hi David, Yes, That is what I am looking for. Here's what I have tried so far: I have put in a sloped ceiling plane on the first floor, but can't figure out how to eliminate the "former" bit of horizontal ceiling. I've also tried using a polyline, converted it to a molding. that looked beautiful, but the ceiling stayed. I did the same with a slab. I even tried putting in a roof plane. that worked the best of all the ceiling was eliminated, but it also eliminated the floor above.- 6 replies

Help to make sloped ceiling above stairway

thanks javatom, not sure I follow. There is no lower level wall to pull back. I have a railing on the second floor defining the hole for the stair, but no wall below around the stair. I think I'm misunderstanding which wall perhaps? Here are pictures of the the sample floorplans Deerford Stairs plan floor 1.pdf Deerford Stairs plan floor 2.pdf- 6 replies

Hi folks, I'm using X9. Can someone help me figure out how to slope a ceiling above a stair? I can do it in elevation by faking it , but not in 3 D views.. this is is my attempt. This is a photo of an example to show what I'm looking to create. . I also can't figure out how to cover up the gap that shows .between ceiling of first floor and surface of second floor. So far all that I'm doing is using polyline solids. Any help to point me in the right direction would be most appreciated!
