  1. This drove me nuts for a long time but I recently figured out why the program behaves the way it does.

    First the work around:

Change the width of the newel posts to 0" (or 1/64") and the spacing of the newels to something small like 2" (the smaller the number the smoother it will be). Then change the panel type and click OK. The downfall is that you will have to manually add in a post to represent a newel post.

The reason why CA acts the way it does:

Panels are determined by the distance from newel post to newel post. So if you tell CA that the distance is minimal and then input the width of the newel post as 0 (or 1/64th") the program essentially eliminates the newel post all together.

    Hope that helps!

  2. Hi Chief friends!

I have run into this issue a few times and have created a work around to solve it out of pure frustration and being under deadlines by just drawing a polyline solid over these areas. I know that I must have something incorrect but just not sure what it is. My issue as you can see by the attached Full Camera image is that walls sometimes show through the exterior façade. 472678872_RearWallIssue.thumb.jpg.e474ef4544311a2553851b24d07ac7c9.jpg

I have tried re-snapping the walls but that does not do the trick. One side has attic walls due to a vaulted area over the living room but the other side does not. It is almost as if it is an extension of the dining room walls.

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Thank you for the suggestion Chopsaw. I am running X9 and a back clipped elevation solves the problem except that the floor plan has multiple angles and in order to show an elevation of the entire rear side for instance, it would encompass other elements, such as rooms and other exterior walls showing up as well.

    Any other suggestions?

    And Solver: signature done, thanks!

  4. I cannot seem to figure out how to not display a window label that is being shown through the window or door. As you can see from this image attached, there are multiple labels displayed. One is for the actual door or window on that elevation but the other label is from a door or window that is shown through the glass located on the other side of the house. How can I correct this? Thanks!

  5. First time poster and a newB. I am now designing my second home in CA and have so far managed to figure out through all the great posts and videos how to do just about anything, but one thing I cannot figure out is how to create a foundation wall with a floor joist ledge that I can set floor joist upon like the detail shown below. My assumption is to create a pony wall, the lower section being a standard 8" thick concrete stem wall with a 4" concrete stem wall above, however I cannot seem to figure out how to manipulate the parameters in CA to set the floor joist on the newly created ledge? If you could show me the steps how to achieve this I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance for the help!Untitled 1.bmp
