Staggered Stud Wall - 2x4 studs, 2x6 plate?

Best that I can think of is to just to create 2 main layers at 2.75", set the Structure settings to Stagger Multiple Framing Layers, Build Framing, then group select the studs and change to 3-1/2". You would then need to re-align the studs though. I'm sure there's probably a better way... that's just what comes to mind right now. I'll keep thinking on it and let you know if I come up with anything else.

I have done it using 2x8 plates.   There are some things that dont work perfect, but I never build my framing models perfect anyway.   Really for 2x6 I would just add a detail sheet that I would draw.   Here is one I did for my 2x8 plate.

(see first post in this thread)  It is attached there

I've searched and cannot see how to define plate width independently.

Is there a way to properly define and execute framing a staggered stud wall on a wider plate as was asked in the OP in 2016? I've used the double studs at 2 3/4" method and it shows somewhat acceptable in plan view. At least the wall is 5 1/2" thick.....  Almost 7 years later and I didn't find much more on this topic.

I can edit a wall to be this way, but cannot see a way to Chief-build the wall.  I go 2x6 wall with studs at 12", then edit size and position of the studs to get the in-out pattern, each wall getting a stud face every 24 inches.

Thanks Gene, I suspected that we still needed to edit the wall somehow, I just wanted to be sure that I didn't miss anything.
