solver 1578 Posted April 22, 2016 Is it possible to define a staggered stud wall using 2x4 studs and 2x6 plates? I've searched and cannot see how to define plate width independently.
Alaskan_Son 2473 Posted April 22, 2016 Best that I can think of is to just to create 2 main layers at 2.75", set the Structure settings to Stagger Multiple Framing Layers, Build Framing, then group select the studs and change to 3-1/2". You would then need to re-align the studs though. I'm sure there's probably a better way... that's just what comes to mind right now. I'll keep thinking on it and let you know if I come up with anything else.
VisualDandD 119 Posted April 22, 2016 I have done it using 2x8 plates. There are some things that dont work perfect, but I never build my framing models perfect anyway. Really for 2x6 I would just add a detail sheet that I would draw. Here is one I did for my 2x8 plate. (see first post in this thread) It is attached there https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/9035-some-staggered-wall-details-and-plan-i-have-been-working-on/
