Hello,

We have a house plan nearly complete in x8.  We are at a point we need to partner with a professional to finish the plan (for sure the roof needs work), ensure the structure is safe and meets local regulations, etc.  My thinking is that an architect currently using Chief would make this process much more efficient due to the software compatibility.  It is going to be prairie or craftsman style home. We need someone that has experience designing this type of homes in the past.

If you are qualified to assist, please send me your information, hourly rate, and I'll give you a call.  Also how do you work with me if remote? Do you use a sharescreen? If you are local, that's even better. We live in Frankfort Illinois. a Southern burb of Chicago. Or call me 708 269 1979.

Thanks.

Hello Alan,

I have a home designed in Home Designer Professional 2017.  This is a house we plan to build ourselves over in northwest Arkansas. What I would like some help with is.....

1. Checking the overall plan for anything I might not be aware of, since I am not an architect or builder, i.e. national codes.....

2. Assisting with incorporating structural requirements for an elevator.  I have a copy of the hoist way requirement drawings from the manufacturer.

3. Assisting with converting roof and floor structure to the use of manufactured trusses in the plans. We are considering using trusses for the roof and floors, because of free span space, and ease of use.  These can be ordered from Menards.com.  They are opening a new store 20 mins from where we are building.

4. We are investigation RayCore.com SIPs type panels that we can build the walls and roof from.  There may need to be some structure adjustment to the walls where the stairway will be and the rear wall that is open to the second level. The program uses full length boards from main floor to the second level between the windows.

5. Roof change over the elevator hoist way bump out.  In the drawing it shows a hip style roof, maybe the main roof could just be extended to cover the hoist way.

6. Creating a basement plan I could show a foundation builder.

7. Final drawings for building.

That is most of what I can think of at the moment.  The house is just the way we want it, perfect for our needs and suited for the great 3 ac. piece of property we have.

Thanks for your time in reading this and posting on the forum.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Tanya Nodich

Chief Architect drafting help

Hi Alan,

I do major remodels of single family residences in the San Francisco Bay Area.  5 years into this phas of my career.  Currently working on a complicated project that has 4 stories that step up a hill.  My projects are in the $2 - $4 millions range, and I’m currently working on two.

I am now doing my own architecture, having learned enough of CA Premier, X9 to be dangerous.  The challenge is that I’m new enough at this that somewhat regularly I hit drawing issues  that are not that complicated, but I just haven’t yet learned how to do them.

So, I’m looking of coaching / help / take over part of the drafting to keep this project moving forward.

I can share files remotely.  Your location is not that important.  I’m looking or someone who is competent, and fun to work with.

Current projects need a few critical and currently, urgent inputs.  But in the future, it could be pretty steady drafting work to flesh out what I LIKE to do, but can’t, because I have to acquire design and keep my crews busy.

Basically, I have regular opportunities, by my architectural drafting skills are a key bottleneck.  My builder, engineer and I know the local codes.  But the planning and building departments here a extremely persnickety, and they want close to perfect plans, which I simply can’t produce.

I LOVE what I’m doing, and am successful at it.  But I can’t do it all.

Is there a possibility to work together?  Please contact me at

Joe@LongitudeProperties.com, or on my cell at 415-601-8891.

My most active current project is at:

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
