Hello! New to the forum!!  I downloaded the trial and have been playing around with it, also have Softplan trial version.  Where any of you in the same boat going back and forth on which one to purchase?  From the time I've spent CA seems to be more user friendly!  Any input would be appreciated! Thank you!

I have never used any other software than Chief Architect (since 1995), whatever you purchase, spend the time to really learn its tools and procedure (do not guess but study-practice). Any software, well learned and used in competent hands can produce useful results but it is the mastery of the end user that is the most important element, not the software. Competence is earned not purchased.

I actually purchased Softplan until I came across Chief, and have been with Chief ever since over 10 years ago. It was a better program to learn, Softplan was all over the place for me, and could just never learn it easily.

I keep hearing that Chief has issues with roofs, stepped foundations, pony and knee walls, floor and ceiling systems, and stairs, course this is coming from a Softplan user.  I'm so used to AutoCAD for house plans, any of the 2 is a lot better than that dinosaur software!  Do you guys have any issues with what I just listed?

Chief is not going to do stepped foundations and other options Automatically.....like some think it should.....so it takes a little time and training to figure out the software. I have been using Chief since leaving AutoCAD in 2004....would never go back, and have never felt the need to "branch out" with other software.
