Select Objects Problem?

This is a common scenario for me.

I want to select text over the WM & Dryer to copy to the electrical layer.

 

The room label & actual fixtures get selected first.

So shift select is not efficient because you have to jump through hoops to get the selection you want.

Similar problem when I want to select only the windows on the front of the house.

 

Do you really have to turn off all the layers and then turn on the target layers to accomplish this common operation?

Select directly over the item you want then hit the tab key until it is highlighted. Works for every similar operation.

For some items, you can select the appropriate tool first.  For example:

 

Select the "Window" Tool and then press the "Shift Key" and maquee select the Windows you want.  Only Windows will be selected.

 

This will work for Windows, Doors, Stairs, Cabinets, Walls, Fixtures, etc.

For some items, you can select the appropriate tool first.  For example:

This will work for Windows, Doors, Stairs, Cabinets, Walls, Fixtures, etc.

Same should apply if you select the text parent too first, then draw marquee around text and the text should be selected. This will apply too if you want to select text, electrical or a dimension line that is over another object. Hit that parent tool and it should select that item first.

Now if CA would add a "User Select" button to the "Match Properties" dialog so the user could marque select that items & not All on the floor.

 

That would be a nice additional selection tool.
