Hi, Im having a problem with the auto dimension feature. I seem to keep getting double dimension lines and the dimension txt seems to be jumbled up. Hard to read clear measurements. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

When I use automatic dimensions for elevations, I have a dimension default set (usually through an annotation set); the dimension default is defined to only locate a few items, and has the font size, and arrow size defined - otherwise, you will get a lot of dimensions that are difficult to read.

I typically use the interior elevation with the "NKBA general annotation" and you can see how it works with the auto  NKBA dimension; if the annotation set is "1/4 Scale" it looks very messy.  See my two examples.  The difference was the annotation set with the correct defaults define.  I don't do a lot of exterior dimensions; hence my interior example.

Couple of things might help....

in your 1/4 Dimension defaults set the Auto Dim line separation to say 24" or 30 " (default is 18" I think )

and in the Auto Elevation defaults  Uncheck everything on the Locate tab for a bar bones look , then add back as needed.

Not sure why your stairs are picked up mine aren't in the quick test plan I did........

oh I had to use a multi select (with the shift Key) after clicking on MANUAL dimension on the dim.toolbar and delete them that way .
