Manufacturer Catalogs - Create A Buzz

Are you interested in seeing specific brand catalogs available for use with Chief Architect?

We often hear from users the desire for more branded catalogs in their Library. Our policy at Chief Architect is to only produce and distribute catalogs representing brands from whom we’ve gotten permission.

You can help to open the door for your favorite catalogs by leveraging your Social Media voice. Consider sharing your thoughts about Chief Architect on the brand’s facebook page. Tag Chief Architect in your comment to introduce them to our software.

Here is an example of the technique in action:

If we work together, we may be able to expand the catalogs that are available for your designs!

I have on several occasions mentioned specifically to lighting reps from Hubberton Forge and Progress about

wanting 3D symbols for the program and have referred them to Chief. I assume they have CAD drawings that

they use to produce the symbols. Never got any kind of response or follow up. BUT I will keep trying!

As KBird1 is requesting brand specific plumbing fixtures, I'd like to see appliances by manuf. (GE, Whirlpool/Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Bosch, LG, Samsung) with accurate dim's. I'm more interested in the dim's being accurate than the look of the appliance - especially for appliances being placed into cabinets.

These are great names! Would you each be willing to name drop Chief Architect on their facebook pages? This helps create that first connection that makes the conversations easier for us to start.

Sometimes hearing the need from customers helps sell the idea of catalog creation.

My son is a V.P. of Architectural Sales at CRlaurence.com./ and U.S. aluminum. He said he would be happy to work with you , they have Glass railings, shower enclosures, Glass Curtin walls, storefronts and many other things. They are the only company in the country. with an ICC approval for glass railings. Not sure how to get that started? They have offices all over the world.

Yes I  will start doing this.  As I watch Judge Judy,  I am playing on my IPAD going from site to site,  I will now make it a point to go to these Facebook pages and drop the CHIEF ARCHITECT name.  If it helps you guys out,  then by association it will help me  out.

Give me a few days to do this.....

Thanks Perry! Thanks Scott!

Perry, have him call us (800-482-4433) to talk about how we may be able to work together, ask for our Brand Catalog Specialist, or he can e-mail with info about his brand at content@chiefarchitect.com.

Mike, thanks for the feedback! Even if you don't do social media, but would still like to help progress toward your favorite brands, sending an e-mail, or filling out the Contact Us form that is common on home pages these days makes an impact!

Kohler has many 3d models online. Here is a link to a complete download of Kohler fixtures, many other known manufacturers offer 3d models.

http://www.us.kohler.com/us/CAD-&-Cutout-Symbols/content/CNT300084.htm;jsessionid=4EB16298671C4FE0A1150195D7423F3B.kohlerb-prod2-ecom2

I usually get the  model from Trimble , and their library is way bigger these days but often find Chief can't import the SU Texture , ie no chrome  or Stainless etc. ( not that I can't fix it of course) , and the model is frequently upside down or backwards ,doesn't recognise the wall etc  eg the K8003 BodySpray.

It would be nice to have the entire Trimble Kohler catalog (arranged in Folders of course) There would be a lot of work involved to set the materials, bounding boxes, stretch planes, origins, etc.

But it's not like Adrean's team has anything else to do ;)

It depends on the terms of any agreement.  Typically, using manufacturers' models as a revenue center isn't going to fly.  Even "hiding" those models in up-sale product and/or SSL won't cut it.  If I'm XYZ Widget Co., I want my residential widgets used by the total CA consumer stack.  The value proposition for manufacturers is a hands-free add/sales channel, while the value to CA is an extended feature set.

<hint>However, the true value of real world symbols and materials comes at some later date when Chief can implement consumer-side BIM and make the entire HD/Room Planner product lines one big shopping cart--and they're getting 2% on every sale.</hint>

I would like the Velux Skylights.  But then of course Chief would need to create a tool to cut the 'Skylight' hole in the roof automatically to match the Skylight Symbols - not to mention making the 2D CAD Block automatically adjust to the Roof Slope.
