Save a file as an older version

Unfortunately no.  It is not backward compatible.

You would need to be running the same or newer version of what they are running.  Or on future projects, they would need to run an older version.  Once a file is saved into a newer version, it cannot go back.

No sorry that is not possible with the entire plan file.  The best you could do is export a PDF or .dwg file for a 2D trace over situation.

 

Perhaps the project would make the upgrade worthwhile for you.

For future reference, there may be a time saver in exporting the newer X-14 plan to CAD.

 

The CAD import can then be brought to life in a previous version w/ the "CAD to Walls" tool.

 

It's not perfect, but it works fairly well. 

 

There's a dated tutorial on the web by a fellow user which helps explain...
