As Built Overlay using X13

I watched the tutorial on this topic, however the steps to overlay plans were demonstrated using CA X12.  My Change Floor/Reference doesn't allow me to pull in a new reference file.  This is a snapshot of the X13 view when you open Change Floor/Reference.  Thank you for any help.

My Change Floor/Reference

Helpful if you adjust your signature to indicate what software version you are on and your system specs. This is the Chief Architect Interiors and Premier forums, Hometalk is where you will find information on the Home Designer line of products. What you are showing is a imitation in that line of products.

Hi Joe -

You are correct, it is Chief Architect Interiors. I just confirmed my subscription, and changed my signature. Does that mean I can't layer a remodel over an as-built? Thank you!

I'm not sure exactly what capabilities Interiors has for Reference Floors.  You should probably contact Chief Architect Support.  I am assuming that you have SSA for your product.  They should be able to help.

From the look of the dbx you posted, you can only reference another floor in your plan.

You can't reference another plan file.

I work with another designer who uses interiors and as long as I set it up using premier she is able to access it but she is unable to set it up to reference the other plan.  This was in X12 we confirmed that and we have not revisited it in x13 as I do all of her as-builts and alot of the proposed plans for her so it is all setup in the template.

The ability to display multiple floors or other plans as a reference is only available in Premier.  See picture below from the product differences.

Christie,

There are other ways to bring your As Built into your plan and put it on its own layer so you can turn it on and off.  Reference Layer just happens to be a very efficient method, but not the only method.  Here are a couple that do not require access to Reference Layers:

1.  In your As Built plan, create a CAD detail and make an "As Built Mask" that can be put on its own layer and turned on and off.  I like to make my As Built Mask in red, dotted lines.

2.  This Chief video covers several methods, including one of making CAD blocks placed on a remodel layer and placing those blocks on top of walls that are moving.  Easy to control seeing them or not by turning the layer on and off.

Good luck!  :)
