FLOOR PLAN ORIENTATION

Do any of you guys ever do a horizontal orientation of your floor plans when 1/4 " =1 ' is to large for a vertical orientation  on 24" x36 layout ? Instead of reducing to 3/16" =1' which framers hate?

I always draw my buildings so the largest dimension is across the page. It does not really matter the orientation of the layout as long as you a consistant through a plan set.

Yes, whenever "1/4 " =1 ' is too large for a vertical orientation." There's no convention that I'm aware of that requires plans to be oriented 'vertically'.

I have a couple of extra Layout Sheet sizes that I use depending on the plan.

• 24" x 42"
• 24" x 48"

Both of these are custom sizes not provided by standards.

 

I would never use 3/16" scale.  If the project is too large for even these sizes I will use a 1/8" scale "Key Plan" and 1/4" scale partial plans.
