Indented Wall - Soap Ledge

Easy way ( or difficult way for that matter ) to create a soap ledge in a wall?

1.  Create an indented box in 3D and assign the Tile material to it.

2.  While in the 3D View convert it to a "Window Symbol" and add to the library.

3.  Insert the symbol in the wall - you might have to adjust the origin and suppress casings, etc.

 

A lot of the finer points can actually be done in the symbol dbx of the library item.

It's also nice to use a polyline solid to create a sill that extends out on both sides.

Adds some depth to the shelf and looks good. Use a marble texture to match what you are using for

a threshold at the entry.

Or use a pass through with a poly line solid for the backing.
