Stair Railings in a Doorway

Hello,

 

I'm trying to draw some stairs where the railing dies into the side of a doorway opening.   In addition, I'd like a starter tread to extend through the doorway.   Trying to recreate something like in the attached picture (Entry Way.jpg), however what ends up happening is my stairs keep getting cut off (Capture.jpg).   I can make this work by leaving the wall open and framing in a doorway with soffit manually, but there has to be a better way.   I hope.

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you construct the stairs as a symbol, you can do what you want.

 

In the attached pic, you can see a stool, which is of course a symbol, in an open doorway.
