Framing for JUST an addition

I am working on an addition and just want to show the new framing; walls (the easy one) floors, ceiling etc., Can this be down automatically with specific settings or does it have to be done manually?

On the framing plan. Also a framing overview; the framing for just the addition, walls, floor, clg. etc.. no need to frame what is existing.

You could change the framing layer in your existing walls or turn it into something else like an air gap or just pick a random color. Then when you create the framing on auto it won't frame those walls. Alternatively you could just click your new walls and down in the bottom panel create the framing for just those ('manually')

Learn to use the framing tools to frame only what you want.  Autoframe is not your friend.

I don't know all your project details, but it can almost certainly be done automatically.  The key is to do the following for all your As-Built components before turning auto framing on, and t's most easily done before drawing your addition although it can be done afterward as well (just takes a little more effort)...

• Group select all your rooms and check Retain Floor/Ceiling Framing.  Depending on the situation, you may also want to put these rooms on a separate Slab Pour Number / Framing Group while you're there.
• Group select all your walls and check Retain Wall Framing.
• Group select all you Roof Planes and check Retain Roof Framing.

Taking the above steps will ensure that none of the existing components get auto framed.  There are more little details you'll need to work through to perfect the framing of your addition, but hopefully that should get you started on how to do it with auto framing turned on.
