Help With Adding 2Nd Floor

Kozikow Drawing #2 10-19-14.planHi looking for help installing a 2nd floor over the bath, entry, master bath, hall and closet. Main core of house has 14' walls and both the kitchen and master bedroom have 8' walls. So after I add the 2nd floor I need 5' knee walls on 2nd floor. Any help would be great.

select those rooms open the dbx and set the ceiling height to the height of the knee walls in those rooms

You can also create a phantom floor 2 for that space, so the bath would be on the 3rd floor.

 

You can also adjust the floor definition to have an air space but you then need to add some cad to the sections for the wall, that is if you don't need to show any 3d framing and don't use the material list for your plans.

When I build 2nd floor it puts a 2nd floor over the kitchen, living and master bedroom and I don't want a floor over those rooms. I want to stand on 2nd floor and look down into the living room

Define that room as 'open below' ad see if that does the trick.

When you add the 2nd floor  DO NOT DERIVE IT FROM THE 1ST FLOOR   , add it as a BLANK PLAN , turn on the reference Layer so you can see the 1st floor and then draw the walls over just the rooms you want on the 2nd FLOOR.

 

set the rooms below on the 1st floor to 8ft or 14' as needed
