Staggered Lap Siding/Pattern to Texture?

I reviewed this older posting: http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread.php?65927-varying-lap-siding-reveal

and was able to successfully download the pattern created.  What I don't understand is how one transfers that pattern to the texture file for 3D viewing?

I'm hoping it's easier to do this now as the posting dates back to 2014?

Here's the elevation view with the intended siding pattern:  Now to just get the material to follow.

There is a Material in the other File in that Thread but as Eric Pointed out these days you can likely make a better one fairly easily, then use the Pattern from the Thread too for vector views.

Patterns = Vector Views

Textures = 3D Views Like Standard.  ( seamless Textures are best )

Thanks all.

What basic image editor program would you recommend?  I think the only one I have is Paint but it's probably 10 years old.

Paint works just fine if you are familiar with it ?  there is also the newer Paint 3D on most PCs.

Paint.net is free if downloaded from their Site direct , (not the M$ Store too)

https://www.getpaint.net/download.html                a better download link......................https://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html

https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/index.html

And there is the longtime Free Standby GIMP too.

Thanks Mick.

No.  I'm not familiar with Paint.  I don't think I ever used it.  I'll try to experiment with the suggestions you forwarded.

Paint will work , it is very "basic" with no frills is all......

I used it in this Tip to make a new Tile Material for example.....
