I'm not sure if this is a bug, but when I set the defaults for the roofs to auto build roof framing, it works after I set it for the following roofs I build. But when I open the plan again to work on, I need to set this default back on. ???

      Hi Guys,
      Another cry for help:
I am working on an addition that should use trusses over a simple gable roof. A piece of cake.
Only, client insists on having two small roofs at the ends of the house (pic 1.png).
There is no structural change, the ceiling in both rooms is standard flat GWB's, and roofs are only "curb appeal" request.
So, the cheapest solution looks to me like making standard trusses, nail the sheathing, and create 2 slightly bigger crickets over the sheathing.
-Unfortunately for me, I need to deliver accurate roof framing plan, and - here comes the problem.
I made standard trusses and then framed roof after trusses were placed, in hope that it will look like 1b.jpg (image property of Decks.com), giving me a section 3.png, but all I got was a mess from picture 2.png. I need to create standard framing for crickets, and literally put them on top of the main roof.
Any ideas how to do that? Any suggestion or a link to solution is welcome.

So what is the best practice for laying a shed roof on top of an existing roof (or something similar).
      - I want to generate Framing where I frame the main roof, then lay the shed roof on top of the main roof....
      - I COULD build the lower roof plane and the upper roof plane, but that screws up the materials:  ie i have a whole lot more shingles than I need.....
      - I COULD have both the shed roof and the main roof 'join together' --- but then my framing is incorrect....
Is there an option to simplify this?  Should there be?  A lot of times we want to create valleys by laying one roof plain on top of another instead of building a true valley with a valley rafter....

      I'm new to Chief. I'm using X8
I'm working on my first project using Chief. I will be adding a 4 small room addition to a one story residence.
The existing house is framed with roof trusses. There are 2 existing small room additions, each with conventional
roof framing. The 4 new addition will be framed with conventional framing as well.
My question is how do I show the combination of roof trusses and conventional roof framing, then showing 4 new
      additions with conventional roof framing?
I have view a lot of roof framing videos today. None of them show how to model a roof with both trusses and
      conventional roof framing.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
