I can edit with or without that box checked.  Maybe it's just a bug in the MAC version.

Let me be clearer,  the macro tab is light,  when I deselect evaluate,  the macro tab becomes dark and I can then select a macro.

I can edit the macro itself but not the option to insert a macro (that thing in top right corner.

It might be a. MAC thing or I never noticed.

In my experience the macros work differently with evaluate vs non-evaluate mode.

Not sure where in the manual it is disclosed...

When evaluate is not checked macross have access to globals, try creating macro "test"... and place

%view.name%, appears to be executing global replacement and concatenation.

If I switch to evaluate mode I get the error:  "unknown type of %string %view.name%"...

Ruby engine is used to evaluate....

OK, I understand.  It's the same with Windows.

IMO this is a bug in the software but it may be there to prevent execution of the macro while in edit mode.
