Convert .DAE Export Back to .Plan

Hello All,

 

Really hoping someone can help me out here but we have received a 3d Collada file, exported from another designers Chief architect software, and it is in poor shape.  I am hoping someone can help me be able to convert the .dae file back to a plan file  or find another method to make it editable as a whole in Chief.  Thus far I have been unsuccessful at doing so and the clock is ticking(as always).

A DAE File is just a 3D model - usually used for small objects (furniture, fixtures, etc).  It can be imported into Chief as a Symbol. 

It's not able to be imported as a Plan file.

Thanks for your reply Joe!  I was able to import the file into Chief but my goal is to convert the DAE file back into a .plan file which can be edited like a regular drawing set.  Any ideas for this?

Re-draw is your option. There is no bringing it back to a functioning .plan file.

Yup.  The guys above are right.  It's a one way street.  Best bet is to import into Chief and use the imported model as a guide.

If you have a deadline you might consider contacting the original designer and paying for the plan file or possibly even a finished set of plans depending on the status of the project before you took over.  Some sort of a plan file would have to exist to produce the .dae file even if it is a little rough.  If the preliminary work was paid for you might even get a surprise and be given the files for free.
