if you are try to run on Vista consider upgrading your windows to Win 7

In late 2016 I planned to use my 2008 Vista laptop as my primary PC while going to NC for the winter

I found software after software was having issues with Vista

I spent $170 to have the shop install Win7 Pro and all is well

I have yet to find any software that won't load on Win7 Pro

David:

my point is that I ran into many of my software that wouldn't install on Vista or 32-bit

after receiving this hassle numerous times I bit the bullet and upgraded to Win 7 PRO

there may have been ways to get each software to install but I didn't have time or inclination

to fuss with them

All of Chief Architect software comes in 2 flavors, 32 bit and 64 bit, the user decides which version they want.

32 bit will run on a 64 bit machine, 64 bit will not run on 32 bit machine.

The operating system itself is 32 bit unless the user changes it to 64 bit.

As for legacy software, you have to tell windows to run that software in compatibility mode.

The OP is Correct in that 2017 or X8 was the last version of the Chief Products that came in 32bit or 64bit

Chief and I assume the Home products have been 64bit only since X9 ......and if you have a 32bit version of Win10 or earlier they can't be installed.

Amazon still has it in the US it seems, though more expensive than 2019 ATM as 2019 is 20% off for Thanksgiving..... DOUBLE check the 32bit support 1st as it says there are no refunds or returns on it....

Thanks to all who replied. Just got back from long trip and just viewed them all. My problem is that I really don't want to buy a new computer at this time -  Currently running Win 10, 32 bit. If I bought Suite V 19 would the key work on a downloaded v 17? Maybe a dumb question as I don't know the details of how the keys work.

Not as far as I know Tomingreene . each version and copy of the Program has it own Serial Number, but to confirm I would call Sales or try them via Email, WebChat or Skype

An alternative maybe to upgrade to 64bit Windows if your computer is capable of Running it?

Thanks Kbird1. I guess I'll add one more to my computer collection.

Not 100% sure what you mean but If the Computer will handle 64bit Win10 I believe the switch is free since you already have a 32bit license , my old Netbook is the only 32bit version I have, I went 64bit at Win7.
