as Chopsaw mentioned there have been issues with some Nvidia and Intel VideoCard Drivers , have a look at this post below for more info but the latest Drivers seem good for most now...in X10 at least.

I don't think it is the driver or the video card. But, below is my video card and driver information. I forgot to mention that it also hangs up when I select an item in my library and then try to exit or change the selected item in my library. I have to exit the program then reopen it to get it to work again. Also,  I reinstalled X9 and that did not help, and also, I did not have this problem when I first installed CA X9. I have used it since it's release with no issues. This is a recent problem.

Thanks for your help.

If you are experiencing the problem with a brand new plan (something simple like a 4 wall box house) using the default template that shipped with X9, then it is most likely a vide card driver or other system related issue.

More information about vide card related issues can be found here:

https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00106/troubleshooting-3d-camera-view-display-problems.html

If all else fails, I would recommend contacting technical support on Monday during our normal business hours.  If you do not have SSA, this may require a small fee.  If you do have SSA, you might also consider downloading X10 to see if you experience the same issues.

It maybe that the Intel Driver is too new for X9 to work properly , the latest Driver 24.20.100.6136 is working with the  latest X10 version 20.x.x.54 on my Laptop if I force it to use the intel Chip (630 HD) instead of the Nvidia Chip (1050Ti) though.

Earlier this year several of us found that Driver version x.x.x.4590 worked well with the Intel Chips , perhaps try it...

that thread is here :

To try that Driver , Scroll to the bottom of the page linked below and select the x.x.x.4590 download ( 1st in list currently )

Thanks to all for helping me fix this problem!! I found out that I was using my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 video card and not the Intel Graphics 630 video card. I kept updating the Intel graphics 360 driver with no success. Once I learned, from one of the the post responses, on how to determine the video card that CA was using by selecting:

Edit> Preferences preferences.png?1527881717 from the menu if you're on a Windows PC, and then click on the Video Card Status panel of the Preferences dialog.

I found out I was using the NVIDIA GeForce 1050 video card. I then updated the NVIDIA driver to version 391.25, and I was able to close all of my 3D images with no hang-ups. Problem solved. Not knowing the video card panel preference and having an out of date video card driver was my mistake.

Once again, THANKS!!!

A good reason to have your Forum Signature filled in , with hardware being used and your current Version of Chief....

..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that.
If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to
Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window.

PS     I am using 398.36 with my 1050Ti.

Mick, is this a typo with the 1050Ti as your sig says 1070Ti, or do you have it on another machine? Is this driver stable so far? I haven't updated mine yet (1050Ti) as I don't have too may problems with the video card but I am on Win 7 Pro still. I just don't want to move to Win10 until I have to (probably with a new build).

Hi Mike , I am actually using 398.36 on both my Desktop (1070Ti) and Laptop (1050Ti) , using the respective Desktop and Notebook Driver Versions, I updated both late last week and have not had issues with either yet.

The Laptop also uses the Intel HD 630 (same CPU) per the OP's Laptop (Driver  24.20.100.6136) ,  it also runs X10 fine but is only about 1/4-1/3 as fast to Open 3D views compared to the 1050Ti it also has. More in Post no#7 on the Intel Driver 24.20.100.6136 if you also want to Update it.

I just updated my signature. However, I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 video card. It is stable once you update to the latest driver version 23.21.13.9125_A15

The 1050 and 1050Ti can and do use the same Driver , so you could try the latest  ( 24.21.13.9836 )  if you want too... linked in my Post above....
