Room Planner on new cell phone

Recommended Posts

I don't want to open a Pandora's Box and the preference war between Apple vs. everyone else. However, my cell phone is in the process of dying and I have to replace it. In trying to think ahead, I am considering both the iPhone 6s Plus (5.5" screen) and the Galaxy S6 (5.7" screen).

My primary concern is the practical use of Room Planner on a cell phone and interfacing with a Bluetooth laser, especially the E7100i that I just recently bought for this purpose. Will they communicate effectively?

Second question is, will Room Planner functionally work on a cell phone for as-builts with its smaller screen? Is it a waste of time and I should go the tablet route (more money of course since I still have to upgrade my cell phone)?

Any input would be appreciated. I will post this on the ChiefTalk forum also.

Thanks, Mike

It comes down to personal preference. So long as the device you purchase meets the minimal system requirements in terms of OS and hardware, there shouldn't be any problems:

According to those same requirements, the E7100i is supported on the iOS or Android versions of Room Planner so unless there is an incompatibility between the device of your choice and the Leica laser device then there shouldn't be any problems on that front either. I would recommend checking the Leica website for your device and it's supported uses, which devices do they recommend or don't recommend.

So again, phone vs. tablet is a matter of personal preference. My friend is perfectly comfortable with his tiny iPhone screen for everything he does, while I can't stand it. But the software runs the same either way.

Thanks, Kirk. I tried getting into Tech Support yesterday but they apparently were very busy. I gave up, primarily because I was busy too - which is a good thing.

My main concern also is the smaller screen. I don't know of anyone in my area using the cell phone app or I would check it out myself. Like you, I'm afraid the small screen will drive me crazy and I don't need the larger phone otherwise - I don't use facebook. :)

When I upload a 360 panoramic to my chief architect account and then I share the media via a link and then I click on the link I should be to be able to open and maximize the screen and tilt the 360 up and down and if I wanted to and turn the phone and view in order to put the goggles on it now does not work.

Does anyone no how to reliably pair an iPad 3rd generation with a Leica E7100 for use in Room Planner? When I go into Room Planner and select Bluetooth Devbices it does not appear. It also doesn't appear in my Bluetooth settings area as an available device. Thx

I can't connect my Leica D110 to use room planner app on an IPad Air 2, just purchased. iPad Bluetooth won't recognize it, but it's is recognized by the Disto app, but room planner won't pick it up. I just spent a LOT of money and requirements says this is supported device, what's up?

Is anyone using a Samsung Tab S2 with a Disto E7100i? I just got the E7100i to use with Room Planner and I can not get them to play together. The Disto will pair with the S2 and will work with Disto sketch but not with Room Planner. The device shows up in room planner in the measuring device list but when I click on it to activate it nothing happens. I have unpaired & re paired several times, uninstalled Disto sketch, reinstalled Room Planner, rebooted the tablet and still no results. Spent and hour on the phone with Chief tech support and still not working.

The attached video clip shows what is(n't) happening

      Any suggestions?

Assumptions: I have the latest IOS on both iPad 2 and iPhone 6s plus and am NOT attempting to connect with Bluetooth FIRST. I am going straight to the Roomplanner APP.

      2) My iPad 2 does not see my E7500i in either Roomplanner or Leica's Sketch app so I am suspect there is an issue with the 7500 or my iPad 2.

      Thanks,
