Charles
I am trying to insert a niche in a shower pony wall, but the program changes the size from 3" deep to 5'16" and seems to reverse the symbol. Anyone else experience this? PONY WALL TEST.plan
solver
Looks like a bug to me. Please report. With a bit of work, you can use the Inserts Into Wall setting -- X10 only, I believe. Add your version to your signature please. Make a symbol with this setting. Place it in the wall. Use the Edit Polyline tool in the Edit toolbar to change the shape. cv2702
Wasn't that a bug with an earlier version of X10?
Charles
Just got off the phone w/ Chief and it is a bug. The solution is old school until it gets resolved..... use a pass-thru with a polyline solid for the back. Thanks, Charles
MarkMc
Here's Eric's solution using a cabinet turned into interior fixture, inserts into wall. EZ but X10 only.

MarkMc
Place in blank plan adjust face, shelves etc. 3D perspective, convert to symbol, select type (interior fixture), check advanced options. Name it, adjust origin, options, materials and stretch planes zones as needed. In this case I made it 3-3/4" deep and set the stretch plane to something larger like 10. That prevents the depth from changing.
solver
In the image I posted above, you can see there is framing showing, and the symbol I used had a Gap material applied so it's not visible. Mark created a cabinet symbol that inserts into wall so it would have sides, a back and possibly shelves. He created his own wall niche.

steve_stuart
This seems to still be happening in X12, does anyone know if it was fixed and I am just doing it incorrectly? Or is the bug still alive?
solver
It can be made to work.
steve_stuart
Thanks Eric, would you mind giving me a pointer or two on how you made it happen?
DavidJPotter
I recently created one for a shower I was designing. I used a wall elevation camera to place the niche in the lower pony wall DJP
