chic cottage project floor gap

I have been following along with the chic cottage video series to get more of a sense of the CA X9 tools construction process.  When I add second floor using the floor tool based on first floor option the 3d image shows a gap over the porch roof (chic cottage 2.plan).  As I continue the construction process I also found that a gap is created when I add a ceiling to my back deck (chic cottage-current.plan).  Based on a related Q&A response it seems that the second floor joists and floor are missing from the 3d image.   I confirmed that the 1st floor structure includes ceilings.  1) Have I correctly identified the reason for the gap between my first and second floor in my building? 2) How do I fix it?

Response to Mark3D and DJP:

Thank you for your response.  Very surprised by how quickly I received the response and the obvious level of expertise.  In this situation the solution to extend the walls down to match the top of the first floor walls was useful as it did not occur to me that it was an option.  I ended up using the Mark3d recommendation as it is more consistent with my end goal of building a second story living area. I had tried to previously define the second floor as a room but was unable to select the second floor area to declare the area type.  Based on Mark's suggestion I selected all of the second floor walls opened the wall specification dialog box and unchecked the "wall undefined" box (it appears that if any of the walls bounding a room is identified as "wall undefined" it prevents CA from identifying the area as a room).  This action resulted in defining a second floor permitting me to select the second floor area to define room specifications and it closed the gap in the exterior walls between the first and second floors.
