Boxed Out Windows

I'm running into this issue often.  Michael is right, but if Chief is watching this it would be very nice to have a box window tools that wasn't so limiting....as I really like certain aspects of the box window tool.

As Joey mentions, we should be able to add windows BUT also we should have the ability to copy and paste a copy of this element.  It would be SUPER cool if we could save these elements to our Library.

Maybe someone could do a video on this topic.  I have generally built boxed/bay windows manually...but, it's difficult to say the least.  At least for me...I'm no guru.

I hadn't realized that the "box window" tool was so limiting.  Thanks for posting Joey...learned something new...again.

The box window and the bay tool is essentially useless in my opinion.  I am not smart enough to use it....  and apparently Joey isn't smart enough either.  I always manually build.  It is a room with a raised floor and I have done multiple vids on this many many years ago......  but I am sure I could not find them.

I run into that problem. I created a wall, placed windows in it and changed the height of the wall by raising it.

For the sake of learning something, was that a wrong answer? I thought that it is how I did it a while ago.

I would appreciate if someone can comment on it. A yes on no would be ok.

Thank you

OK, It's a bit convoluted but her goes:

  • In a blank plan
  • create a section of a wall
  • insert 4 windows to make up the size you need and mull them together
  • reduce the surrounding wall to just a hair larger than the mulled unit
  • convert that to a Millwork or Exterior Fixture Symbol
  • back in your Plan with the Box Window
  • set the size of the Window and convert it to a Pass-Thru
  • put the Symbol in the opening

I told you it was a bit convoluted :D
