Curved roof beam

I'm new to Chief. I'm using X-8.

 

I'm on a project with a curved roof and exposed rafters. I tried to using the soffit tool and checking the box to place under ceiling and sloped soffit.

The room has no ceiling. I can not get the soffit that I want to convert into exposed rafters to arch with the roof.

 

Does anyone know how to do this?

That does not work for for me either. Warning says "Could not find a roof surface or a ceiling surface over this Soffit."

There could be a way to do that but maybe you could show the actual rafters and put your insulation on top of the roof?

Mike, soffits are not the best tool for a curved beam.  If you curve the roof and use a roof beam, that beam should follow the shape of your roof.

You need to delete the drywall under the rafters in the roof DBX to get exposed rafters, also delete soffits.

Perry,  I found there was something strange with the curved roof that made the ceiling surface stick and I also had to select "Use Soffit Surface for Ceiling" under the Structure>Ceiling tab of the room DBX.

I see he didn't post the plan, Chop, How did you see the problem??

There was no plan posted but as you can see from my post I made a quick test plan of my own and wondered if you had noticed the same irregularity because if I recall the sequence correctly I had an open ceiling with the normal roof and when I curved it a new ceiling layer appeared.  I can post the test if you want to check it out.
