Changing floor level of one room changes them all

That is the way I thought it worked........

Maybe I am doing something wrong.  I can get the footing to do down,  but I can't get it to come back up.

This is how it has always worked. And I don't particularly have a problem with this. The problem is that if you reduce the stem wall height to get the footings to come back up, and you enter in too small of a stem wall height, it will bring the floor up with it, too. It used to be that you could just put in an arbitrary small number to get the footing to rise to the level of the foundation floor, but it would go no further.

it won't go up and adjust the footings b/c you had to turn off auto footings when you lowered the footings, unless you have set it up in the floor defaults. You are changing it from the defaults so it turns off defaults and auto foundation. To go back up adjust manually or just re-build the foundation to defaults again. You kind of have to know what to set the defaults prior to adding the foundation. I always do a small model first before doing anything testing the foundation and roof structure before I proceed with anything.

Perry, it seems to me that if someone with your experience and familiarity with Chief has to do a test model first, then something is seriously wrong with the "user-friendliness" of the program.

No, not at all, I use so many types of roof structure eave types, plate heights, foundation types, it just makes sense you have your defaults set up correctly with that particular design you want. It definitely keeps from having trouble down the road. I even think Chief at one time recommended it and has always recommended setting the defaults first.

It won't go back up b/c auto foundation was turned off, if you turn on auto foundation ,it will go up again but you will lose every change you made. I remember that you always build your foundations manually anyway.
