We are selling Red Iron Steel Structures with finished out office interiors (Like the photos attached)

Can someone assist/advise as to how to draw the Red Iron Structure in CA?  Specifically the exterior Post and Beams construction for the walls with vertical steel siding?  Are there any Library items available for purchase for Red Iron elements?

Thanks,

Basil

Yep, this is not something automatic in Chief, lots of custom stuff --p-solids. Too much to explain here.

Absolutely, correct Perry. And not necessary. The building manufacturer submits engineered drawings for permitting. I only took the time because I made a video walkthrough and wanted the visual of the rooms. Way too much time and in the end not cost efficient.

This can be somewhat simplified by using a wall type that has the following layers:

1.  Exterior Metal Siding

2.  Insulation Layer (Air Gap)

Steel Columns (Posts), Beams, etc can be positioned as needed.

Separate Walls for Interior (Furred & Free Standing)

The Roof can be done almost entirely with Roof Framing.

Another option would be to use a "Railing Wall" (Post to Beam, Open with Middle Rail) and a second "Exterior Siding Wall".  You would need to create "Millwork Symbols" for the Steel Columns (Newels) and Rails.  Then a 3rd Wall Type for the Interior Furred condition.

You can also approach this type of construction using Chief along with other more powerful 3D modeling programs. The basics are to create the model in Chief and then place custom symbols of the more complex 3D geometry.
