How about Skylights in X15 - anyone else having issues?

Please send the plan with details on which room is the problem to our Technical Support staff. An issue like this could very well be plan specific so having the plan would help us track down a fix.

    Thank you!

  2. In X14, if you are crashing using the CPU Ray Trace on an M1 machine, you can right click on Chief Architect Premier X14 in Finder under Applications and select Get Info. A window will pop and there should be a checkbox that says "Open using Rosetta". Check that checkbox and that should allow you to use CPU Ray Trace.

I making a new template for plans, and when I go into the default walls settings I am changing the default Exterior wall drywall layer from 1/2" to 5/8" Fire Rated Drywall.

    Hey Lane,

Could you send our tech support team a copy of the template plan you were working on? I tried the steps you mentioned in your first post and was unable to reproduce the issue. Are you still able to reproduce or was it a one time occurrence? It would be helpful to know if it is plan specific or if you can get it with any plan.

    Thanks!

I use the Leica Disto e7100i, the one they actually recommend.  However, it RARELY will input the info via Bluetooth.  It says connected but will not input the measures, no matter which device I use with Room Planner.  I know it's not the LEICA because I use it with other programs and the bluetooth works just fine.  The program drives me bananas that most of the time because I'm forced to enter dimensions manually which doubles the time it takes.

What type of device are you connecting the Disto to? What OS version is on that device?

This is the first time someone has not been able to view the model.

What do you mean by not able to view the model? When they click on the link and click Load Model, do they get an error message? Or is the screen just blank or just a chief logo cube? I am able to view the model in Safari, but I am on an iMac not a MacBook Pro.

Its only a 915 square foot apartment! Cant possibly have too much data and if it does then the whole 3D viewer is pretty much useless to me and my clients. :(

What device are you running 3D Viewer on? When you exported the model from Chief, do you remember what the surface count and texture size values were?

Here is an article about how to optimize your chief plan so it can be opened in 3D Viewer if you are running into memory issues:

    https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03044/optimizing-a-chief-architect-plan-for-export-to-the-3d-viewer.html

  7. i called bosch and they confirmed they glm 50c sends the same data as the glm 100c only difference is the 100c scans to 330' vs 165'

I called CA and they said that according to their supported devices the glm 50c is not one of them.  The program recognizes the glm 50c i dont understand why the room planer will not take data?

Come on Chief add this to the supported devices, it cant be so hard when the glm 100c is already there.

    David

    David,

We are currently working on an update that will give us support for the GLM 50c.

  8. This is a problem. The minimum required RAM is listed on Chief's website as 2GB. However, they also list a number of compatible devices that have only 1GB. (Like the iPad Mini 2) Which is it? If they truly need 2GB, then this app is useless to me.

    Richard,

Thank you for your comment. 2GB of RAM is recommended. You will find devices with 1GB of RAM will work, but you may run into issues opening large plans, especially when switching to HD mode.

  9. Richard, I have an Iphone 6 Plus 128 GB and get the same error message...

This message isn't about how much hard drive space is on your device. This is message is about the memory (RAM) being used by the device. The iPhone 6 Plus has only 1 GB of RAM so large plans may have difficulty running. Try shutting down other apps on your phone and turning off Layers before exporting the plan from Chief.

  10. The system requirements only lists Disto Leica devices for Android:

    System Requirements

    • Android 4.4 and newer
    • 2 GB of RAM
    • 16 GB of Storage
    • For Bluetooth lasers:
      • Device must support Bluetooth LE or newer
      • Leica: E7100i (D110), E7500i (D510)

    • 341 MB Storage Space Free
      • Program — 14 MB download, 28 MB Installed
      • Content (Sample plans, Core Library - 313 MB Installed)

    • Accelerometer and gyro with sensor fusion (Required for some Sojourn® features to function)
    • Back-facing camera (Required for some Sojourn® features to function)

The feature list mentions Bosch, but that is for iOS only.

  11. Thank you to those of you that have sent in an email asking to be on the Room Planner Beta.  We have received your emails and you have been added to our list.  At this time we are just looking for users and we hope to start the Room Planner Beta sometime in Q2 of this year.  Once we are close to being ready for the Room Planner Beta, we will be reaching out to those that have been selected to participate.

If you have not sent in an email, but would still like to participate in Room Planner Beta, please send an email to beta@chiefarchitect.com.  Also please include what OS you currently use, iOS or Android.

    Thank You

  12. I was about to post and then read this. My problem is a bit different this time (although I've experienced all the ones described here). One of the new aspect of X6 that I really like is when I for example select the measurement drop down tool, all the available options appear to the left of the screen. Suddenly that went away, so no I actually have to select one of the drop down choices. I've even reset the toolbars to no avail.

    Adam,

Go to the View menu and select Tool Palette, that should turn it back on.
