  1. Could be done turning into symbols in two generations, one with stretch zone left, stretch 9"-convert to symbol. Set stretch zone on the right for second symbol, stretch again. Have used this, symbol generations idea a few times recently.
  2. and to center the sink temporarily drop a cabinet of the correct size in front and aligned to the side- or better yet float both sinks- first float one sink, center to temporary cabinet- copy and paste in place both- reflect about the large vanity- then select the sinks and center front to back on the large vanity. Delete temporary cabinets. If you have keyboard shortcuts set for copy and paste in place, and reflect about object it is really fast.
  3. Absolutely true Dermot. But if you want the cabinets height to be correct in a schedule you have to use custom tops ... and unless I'm missing something it is the only way to avoid nodes at each cabinet when you want to edit the overhand for a section?
  4. One more thing, we have template plans for each brand/construction (inset, frameless, full overlay) that already have the most commonly used cabinets (with mods & accesries) in them. Move, resize, copy as needed.
  5. Use your user library. Build a blind base, lock the blind side and store it, reflect it and store it-do the same for wall cabinets. Done. Note-build any cabinets that require adjustment from the ones in the main menu bar, they follow plan defaults. Do not use the ones in the library or the cabinet configuration toolbar. While you're at it build drawer bases, microwave cabinets, ovens, fridge surrounds, etc. OR every time you build one place it in the library and use those. Toe kick on wall cabinet-add a molding in the dbx and set it back as needed OR add a pline molding block it and add to the library. Add notes to the library for reuse-sense a pattern here? All of my mfg's offer shallow base cabinets so it's not an issue but IF I were using wall cabinets I would be telling the installer to build a sub base for it so don't see an issue here. Counters and farm sinks are a PIA-easiest to adjust the counter in a 3 d view to begin with. At this point I have maybe a dozen saved-with counters-in the library or I take them from an older plan. Use custom countertops-then your schedule will have the correct cabinet height-check off "NONE" for corner treatment on counterops in the default dbx and you won't get a radius corner. There are legs in the library for building tables, custom ones get stored in the user library. Molding plines for aprons-draw it through the legs to begin with-add nodes at the legs, right click unwanted sections and select disconnect selected then delete. Back of island use a cabinet set to what you want, that way it appears in the cabinet schedule with proper dimensions-keep a few in the library-wainscott panels with 2,3,4 panels, blank-I don't use beadboard but expect that is doable with a little nudge. Components-I spec all of my own so that the schedule can match the order. Add a sub category to cabinets in preferences-then add that to the cabinet component list-Joe Carrick posted how to do this a few times in the past-search forum. Once added you can speck everything that needs to be sent to the maker and for the installer to know. Still a bit of a PIA so.... Save cabinets with the sub category already added to the component list in the library. Save a cabinets a few cabinets with your most commonly used mods. Save codes for modifications and accessories in a :spreadsheet, text box, library, clipboard utility, word doc....copy and paste. If you find the user library unwieldy use warehouse plans instead-copy and paste.
  6. Is this new?? I did not see this until latest release. Maybe I haven't messed with things lately, discovered by accident making an angled back cabinet. I usually close the toe by changing the toe kick dimension to avoid extra lines in vector view. (which still works with this) I'm loving it, happen to need it on a current project.
  7. Yeah, two schedules -I've done that. Solved with deleting one- just had to pick the one I already edited numbers on.
  8. I use molding plines instead of adding it in the cabinet DBX. Clicking on it gets the total length, then add for cuts. Keep copies of stacks in a warehouse plan or borrow from an old job.
  9. Just guessing-"update all views"?
  10. You can also use a pline to find a location, gets it's absolute coordinates from transform replicate and move your block using those.
  11. Thanks, Shading the material shows the pattern better, just makes the tile darker as well. Tried adjusting the sun-nada.
  12. It shows on one wall, not on others. Same material -default, each made the same way-not copied. Why?
  13. Now that you mention it-back when I was the shop guy for a builder they would drag me on site to do the weird stuff. Had to run crown around the eaves on a carpenter gothic. There were several head scratching angled sections with angles like this. I'm sure I coped them, always coped molding attached to the building-in or out. I don't remember how I set the cut but SOP was to work out the miter angles before coping, had a java program that worked it out- something like this Rake Crown Calculator -maybe I just fudged it, dunno.
  14. I had some misplaced textures transferring -not sure if it was computer to computer or X7 to 8- in any case taking a 3d view before I "backup entire plan" lets me know if they are there or moved ahead of time. Might solve it.
  15. and next time I know what to do (as does anyone who searches this out)
  16. After I built it in Chief I asked my assistant, a Solid works and SU guy, how long/hard in SU. He indicated about the same and would use a similar method.
  17. Few folks liked this when I posted asking a question and it was a bit to make so here. Since it does not resize well I am including the plan where it was built The pediment symbol is in the plan. The crown symbols are there as well in case you need to resize the pediment or change the angle.
  18. Thanks guys but can it be done easier?? I think not?
  19. Here is how it is done IRL. Back legs remain horizontal to the floor but the crown itself is tilted. Only way I could get it to work was making a symbol from a standard molding line and then tilting it. Was just wondering if there was a way to manipulate the 3D molding line instead.
  20. oops, helps to read the entire title
  21. Is there a way to make the corners meet when one leg of a 3D molding line is on an angle while the others are horizontal? Just want to know for the future so I don't waste more time if it come up again. I eventually resorted to making a symbol from a standard molding line and changing the symbol angle. Pediment.plan
  22. There are a couple at 3D warehouse
  23. I'm of the "would be nice but there are more important things " I'd like to see taken care of. I do run into situations that drive me nuts, I dislike SU and find TurboCad tedious for creation. But it is something I can easily get around. One recent symbol project spurred me on to download FormZ, FreeCAD, and DesignCAD. Already nixed the last one, will give FormZ a spin in my (not so) spare time and see how important this is to me.
