  1. I would suggest paying more for an upgraded video card to at least RTX 4090 DJP
  2. When the auto tools fail, I fill in manually. I do not consider it a "bug" but rather a programming limitation. DJP
  3. Look again at your Stair Specification Dialog-Rails check boxes DJP
  4. There is an input box for "Grade" in the Auto Story Pole dialog where you tell the software "Where" the grade IS. It does not "know" until you measure it and input that value. DJP
  5. You have probably renamed or changed the location of the missing files. The .layout file automatically "remembers" the .plan and associated documents by their names and locations on your hard drive. DJP
  6. NO. when one wishes to have a room, one uses walls or at least walls, invisible. Only then does one have a "Room Specification Dialog". DJP
  7. The easiest way is to send the Legend to layout at a larger scale, at least that is what I do. Otherwise one would have to export the label block from CAD-CAD Block Management, explode-make larger then reassociate using "CAD Block Management. DJP

  9. Send me the plans and I will give you an estimate to duplicate DJP
  10. Let me know what needs fixing or added or lets meet on line and fix it together, my email is below. I am available each Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM Central Time each week. I work with Home Designer Users frequently. DJP
  11. Let me know what version of Home Designer you are using and I can then help you. DJP
  12. Terrain maps are by default the existing conditions of a piece of land, one has to alter to some degree the existing to accommodate the new structure always. DJP
  13. When I create a retaining wall, I also use a "Terrain Break" (Terrain - Terrain Objects - Terrain Break) object where the terrain abruptly changes in elevation. I also often use custom slabs instead of retaining walls because slaps and polyline solids are easier to control how they interact with terrain. DJP
  14. Check out these help articles and videos at the Chief Website, please. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/search/?default_tab=all&q=retaining+walls+and+landscape&page=1 DJP
  15. I can help you remotely from Austin, Texas using my "Zoom Meetings" service, I do this sort of helping all the time. Email me, please (see below) so we can agree on an appointment time. What exact software are you currently using? DJP
  16. And yet, it IS true for now... DJP
  17. Not yet, Sketch Up has that ability, Chief Architect and Home Designer software's as yet, do not. DJP
  18. The first thing my then boss asked me to figure out about our change to Chief Architect back in 1994 was to evaluate its ability to create Materials Lists. I worked for a Remodeling company then. What I have found out is that if a client asks me to also create a Materials List, I tell them that what I estimated for simple 3D model or con docs. is small compared to creating a PERFECT 3 D MODEL that can be used to create an accurate Materials list, at least 10X over and above what is required for plan sets or a rendering 3D model. The reason is that the software reads how the virtual 3D model is constructed, so if your model is not perfect from foundation to attic you will get an inaccurate Materials List and if it is perfect in all respects, you then can expect a useful Materials List. It requires, for me at least checking and rechecking to make sure all is true and correct, which takes more time than it does for simple con docs or a 3D model for pretty renderings. DJP
  19. I have never seen any such thing myself other than lines associated with a "auto story pole line" but that should be easily identified as such, sorry. DJP
  20. That because some of the walls you are using are auto-generated attic walls that are marked by default as "NO Room Define" which disallows creating any rooms using such wall objects. Open each of the walls' dialog boxes you wish to use to enclose rooms and UNcheck "No Room Define" in those walls. Then finish your design. DJP
  21. The supports can be corbels from the Library Browser and you can vary the pitch via the roof specification dialog - pitch DJP
  22. Define in detail what you consider is "correct", please. DJP
  23. Do you currently use X13 or have you upgraded yet? In any case I can help you, share your plans with me and I can then tender an estimate. DJP
