  1. This is the: The remove portion of RAILING FOLLOW STAIR challenge. I have provided pics of what I want to do plus the plan. The first person that accepts and solves the challenge wins absolutely nothing except for my appreciation. Thank You. BBBB remove portion of wall challenge.plan.zip
  2. Thanks for sending that in. I have requested it before. I also talked to the Chief Muckety Mucks at the UGM about this.... specifically Brian. The more folks that request it the sooner it happens. BTW, the UGM was awesome this year, the CA team was awesome, and I learned a lot. It was probably the best UGM I have attended..... maybe because I learned a lot. They said they had 144 folks attending which apparently is a record. I hope to return next year.
  3. Thanks for bringing this up again. I think it would be wonderful if it was VIEW SPECIFIC. Example: in floor plan I would like to show ridge beams as double dash line and in framing plan I would like to show the ridge beam as single dashed line.
  4. X8? when did x8 come out? i started with 10 in 2005…. I think……. Perry, when did we start and what did we start with? Wasn’t it 10 in 2005? jeesh…. Has it been that long?
  5. From what I know there are three methods to figure areas. 1. The CA way: In my opinion the CA way is not good because it is very difficult to cross check the areas...... and very time consuming to define which rooms are what type of rooms..... and then how do you do total areas for FAR, COVERAGE, etc? I just don't get it. 2. The Joe Carrick way.... I do not fully understand it, but Perry likes it and so does Joe.... I guess it works. 3. The Alaskan Son way. Very easy to double check/verify that the areas are correct. His method works great for me..... he charged me, I paid his fee, well worth the money.
  6. Update all views does not work for me... does it work for you? It is very hit and miss for me.,... even after I shut down CA and reopen. Has anybody else experienced this?
  7. yeah.... I know what you are saying.... I just fix it and move on. Very frustrating.
  8. I see the missing text block lines occasionally and sometimes the last letter will go to the next line like the old days (not good).... I say this to confirm your observations.... I am too busy to look into the issue, my bad
  9. Hi Larry, I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I was referring to the floor joists over the garage supporting the 2nd floor.
  10. hmmmm, what would you do if you had an extra long span over the garage and needed to change the floor joists from 16" oc to 12" oc?
  11. I use bearing lines/bearing walls.
  12. Hi Rene, I don’t see it but after I signed up for the advanced I level, Carrie from CA emailed me and offered to switch me to advanced II level. I said “sure, sounds great”. and then I started thinking about it and I have a funny feeling the class for me will be held down in the dank dark bowels of CA headquarters. will you join me down there?
  13. Yep, been out there for 4 or 5 UGM's and every single trip it was beautiful.... I am glad you guys do not put this on in the winter. Aug/Sept is the perfect time to visit. I just heard you added an ADVANCE LEVEL II, I am looking forward to the classes. See you guys in September.
  14. Hi Glenn, I notified via email you responded to this post, thank you, what is interesting is I do not see your response here.... maybe you deleted the post. Thanks for confirming the behavior.
  15. Hey Guys (and Gals) Why is floor blocking shown as double line and beams and joists are shown as single line (single line framing selected).... is this normal? I had never noticed this. If double line display is selected, all framing members shown as double line, if single line is selected all framing shown as single line except joist blocking which is still shown as double line. Any comments? BTW, I think I like this.... I think
  16. I thought if you did this you would lose the auto sill Plate.
  17. Something I have always believed in. Walkout basements on level 1 and the foundation on level zero. If you do not need to use level zero, no problem, you can still get your model finished using all levels except for level zero. Joey advocates for the walk out basement on level zero, it seems to work for him, but that being said, nobody has given me a reason why putting walkout basement on level 1 does not work.
  18. Never mind, I opened back up and all is well. You may have been correct...... thanks
  19. That does not explain why the other sections that go thru the same slab are 4" thick. I will send it to headquarters.
  20. This is really weird..... AUTO FILL at sections, see pic
  21. Yep, I always try to remember to close layout and then reopened to make sure it STICKS! I started getting lazy not closing the layout, shortly after that the dirty words were thrown towards CA. Always close layout and reopen to make sure it sticks. I do not believe that has changed in X14
  22. If I had to guess, the evil Rich Windsor concocted that story.
