  1. They have CA, but they do cabinets in 20/20. I draw the plans in CA and then they need to draw in 20/20 to do their cabinets. so stupid that 20/20 cannot import DXF.
  2. I sent them in yet DXF file. I just want to know if a 2020 user can import a DXF file. I am not sure my clients are savvy enough to understand it. I can’t believe it’s not possible to import a DXF file in 2020. I did look on the Internet and it wasn’t very clear on whether you could import a DXF file in 2020. just trying to get clarification from somebody that knows.
  3. I did send them a file. I don’t think I know how to do it. I just wanted to make sure it was possible.
  4. Hi All, Can a client using 20/20 import a CA DXF file? thank you!
  5. Turn off auto build foundation. Build the foundations manually.
  6. For the fun of it, drag your terrain break through the wall into that void space since and see what you get
  7. Right click, you should get the sub menu and then you’ll see the simplified polyline tool
  8. I would do as RGARDNER suggests, do tot check box for retaining wall.
  9. I forgot 2ho made these garage doors, but I am very appreciative... attached is the library garage doors by a generoius CA user.calibz
  10. To date I have always included multiple structures in one plan file..... Houses, ADU's, detached garages...... If it was an apartment project I may consider separate plan files....... I never convert garages or ADU's to symbols...... for whatever reason, my projects are ever changing. I had a project with a detached garage, an ADU and a House, and a Swimming Pool all oriented at different angles.... I put them all in same plan file...... this made it easier to see the relationship between all structures around pool. I suppose you could use ref sets but editing between plans seems to be more difficult. Different strokes for different folks
  11. that worked, but if you then break in half because the footing at garage is 12" wide and the other 15" wide, the problem comes back. Being out here on the west coast with the rest of the nuts, we do not do the brick ledge so I had not noticed the issue.
  12. Hi Steve, I took a look at it and could not fix it. Please send it in. Thx
  13. Yep, and then to finish off underside of wall a ceiling plane will work. No perfect solution. pick your poison.
  14. My mistake..... do not use a doorway.... use a pass thru window.... I believe I have requested the ability to shape a door.....
  15. Put a typical wall in and the put in a doorway or window no sash the shape of the opening (angled top)
  16. Hi Rene, suppose the wall at left aide of pit sits on pit floor (as shown), BUT..... suppose the wall on right side of pit sits at on main slab? Can you do this auto?
  17. Rene, you are one of the best, nice job! Are you going to UGM this year?
  18. yep, we all concur.... CA cannot import DXF files from newer versions of ACAD..... I guess
  19. I do not think they sent the wrong file over. This is the second time this has happened to me....... on X15....... when I try to import DWG info from a current version of an ACAD file, I do not get info...... the civil engineers has to export their info into a much earlier version of ACAD.... in this case it was a 2010 ACAD file, and then I can import info. You have verified my statement. BTW, when you imported the contour lines did you import them as ELEVATION LINES and when you did, did they have the elevation of the line ("smart topo lines")
  20. Yep, that is what I get..... see attached pic.... that is what should be there and you will get that info if you import the 2010 file 4433 UPLAND ST - Client Plot.pdf
  21. So they sent me another file and they backed off to 2010 CAD....... this time if I converted the topo lines to elevation lines they did not come in.... if I did not convert they did come in. oh the many mysteries of CA. Mick, if you haver a moment check it out and see if you get same results.... ACAD-4433 UPLAND ST - Client TOPO CAD - EXPORTED TO 2010 CAD.dwg
  22. Hi Guys, Importing DWG ACAD files into CA.... easy peasy back in the day.... but not now.... anybody else? I have attached a file. Would someone please see if possible to import into CA on a PC and then would someone import on a MAC? I ran into this issue about a month ago..... it was the latest ACAD version, I could not import, but when they backed it off to ACAD 2011 I could import. Is this a MAC thing? thanks 4433 UPLAND ST - Client TOPO CAD.dwg
