I am not sure there is a default for that and it does not seem to seem to be tied to any other wall settings. You could post that as a question in Q & A or add it to your suggestion. Chief is trying to market their software internationally so little things like that should matter to them so if you don't get an answer here be sure to contact them directly.

how to modify my concrete stairs?

I am asking bout two items on my pole barn drawing. First, how did you place the metal sheathing on the gable ends on the barn?
Second, how did you make purlins on the roof for the metal. Al I can do is make roof blocking.
Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi Steve, Fixed a few things for you in this plan file.
Porch ceiling is done in the room Structure DBX take a look at the changes I made. White will reflect more natural light for working but you can change to brown if you like.
See previously posed plan file for shed roof.
For 12' material change the material definition to Sheet and it will allow you to enter the length.
Added a Purlin back into the plan so you can see how it behaves better than a rafter.
Maybe talk this evening if there is time.

Take a look and see what you think. The last truss is sometimes a little tricky. What happens is depending on the wall location and definition you will run out of roof plane or ceiling plane below and the truss requires both of those to build. What you need to do is just slide it in until it is happy and then build it the way you need and lock it and then slide it out to where it needs to be. Turn on the labels and when you see TR-** that means not happy, if you get a TR-## then you are good.
If the shed roof was 3/12 you could just extend the main roof plain out to cover the shed but it should work ok the way it is in Sunny Texas I would think.
See if you can move a purlin over from the other file.

"unless somehow they don't show unless the file you are importing is not formatted correctly."
That theory is not likely correct but I just remembered that I recently had a file I was trying to import and the elevation markers did not even import as cad lines when I did not specify them as elevation markers so possibly there are some smarts working against us.
You may want to check in with tech support if you cant resolve this one as I don't think there have been any changes to that programming from X8 to X10.

Just wanted to be sure you found the little down arrow in the gray box because it looks like nothing is there unless you use it.
If that is not it then I am not sure what to say unless somehow they don't show unless the file you are importing is not formatted correctly. Maybe post the DWG file and see if it behaves the same way for someone else.
I assume you are still using X8 as I went back and checked that version for the screen shot of the dbx I posted.
It would be quite helpful for others trying to help if you post in your signature what version you are using and some of your more critical computer specs.

Hi Steve, As I said before I know very little about material lists but you inspired me to give it a try.
Take a look at the saved material list and see if there are any improvements. I was able to fix the walls and found an extra duplicate truss, got the purlins to report which I was surprised it worked but am quite pleased that it did. It did require a few plan adjustment that I hope are going to be ok. Did not see the line 44&49 duplication.

Hey Steve,
Shane might be a little busy as he has been doing fieldwork on a major project.
I can help you out with the purlins if you like. I have been working on a prototype tool that does them but have not released it publicly yet.
Hope to release it soon but don't have everything ready yet.
If you like you can just send me the plan file and I will put them on for you to your specifications and return the file so you can edit it if necessary. Could also look at the gable ends if I have time. Working tomorrow but have some time on Wed.
Send a PM if your interested.

Hello,
would you happen to know if Chief offers an extra seat, as opposed to buying the full program again for a staff member?
Thanks
-
Yes they offer the full program at a discounted rate for companies with multiple users. Check with sales tomorrow.

Hey Chopsaw, My user interface blew up. No icons and just a drawing window!
Any idea what I did wrong and how to restore the default interface?

So it looks more serious then... You may have to work your way through this and check everything. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00467/troubleshooting-missing-toolbars.html
